the Third Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, PA October 17, 1789.
Naomi, a daughter of John Dare, was born about 1771 in Philadelphia, PA,
and died about 1857 in Braxton County VA (WV). Her will was probated on
February 27, 1857 in Braxton County. She was buried in a little
cemetery between the B&O tracks and the Elk River at Union Mills,
Braxton Co, WV.
Thomas served the Colonies in the American Revolution.

Thomas Belknap, a son of Thomas and Naomi (Dare) Belknap, was born
in Hampshire County VA about 1797 and died in Braxton County WV November
30, 1883.
Thomas enlisted on August 10, 1814 in Hampshire County VA as a
private in Captain William Neiley's company of Virginia Militia. He was
discharged on November 10, 1814. WC34297
He later moved from Hampshire to Randolph to Braxton County VA. He
was allowed a pension on his application of April 10, 1871. He went on
the rolls as of November 1871. The certificate was 7558 and the name was
spelled "BELKNUP."

Publishing County, 1970, Baltimore, MD.
He married Mary "Polly" Friend about 1818. Mary, a daughter of
Andrew and Elizabeth (Harris) Friend, was born in 1799 and died in
Braxton County March 4, 1850.
Thomas married Melvina "Emsey" Fisher in Braxton County July 26,
1850. Emsey, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Robinson) Fisher, was
born in Nicholas County VA in May 1921 and died in Braxton County March
2, 1907.

in the 1870 Census of Holly Township, Webster County WV - taken 28 June
- 15 July 1870 by Isaac H. Griffin. In 1880 he and family are in Upshur
County, WV. In 1900, he and his wife Parthena are again in Webster
County, WV, Hackers Valley.

Mary Catherine Belknap, a daughter of Thomas and Mary "Polly"
(Friend) Belknap, was born June 03, 1845 in Braxton County VA (WV) and
died February 12, 1888. She married Shadrick Cheney Perrine May 16,
1867 in Braxton County. Cheney, a son of John and Nancy (Bickel)
Perrine, was born February 05, 1843 in Braxton County and died August
05, 1905.
Shadrack served the Confederacy in the Civil War. He enlisted in
the VA Vounteer infantry and was transferred to County "K" of the 19th
VA
Calvary at Frankfort, Greenbriar County VA March 20, 1863. He was
wounded at Bartley's Mill, (Payne's Farm) on November 27, 1863. He
received a flesh wound in the right thigh. He was given a 30 day
furlough at that time to recuperate. He was captured May 15, 1864
at The Wilderness, with 3 of his brothers. He was described as 5'9",
fair complexion, blue eyes, dark hair. He was unable to write. When
discharged, he signed his name with an "x". When he was discharged,
May 31, 1865, he received pay of one hundred forty two dollars and
thirteen cents.
