ORGANISATIONAL ENVIRONMENT Hepatitis Victoria is the peak not-for-profit community-based organisation working across the state for people affected by, or at risk of, viral hepatitis. It is governed by an independent Board of Directors with the Chief Executive Officer and staff performing the day to day duties. Hepatitis Victoria works to: Provide leadership and coordination for the Victorian community response to viral hepatitis; Build a strong and sustainable organisation that works effectively across all activities and is positioned to have greatest impact; Raise community awareness and prevent the transmission of viral hepatitis; Increase access to quality viral hepatitis information, care, treatment and support. The organisation strives to address the needs of priority populations affected by viral hepatitis including: For hepatitis B: Culturally and linguistically diverse communities Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people Pregnant women with hepatitis B and their children Unvaccinated adults at risk of infection For hepatitis C: People with hepatitis C People living in rural/regional Victoria People who inject drugs People in custodial settings People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds People with hepatitis C co-morbidities Young people 3. POSITION CONTEXT The Marketing, Communications and Online Services Coordinator is accountable to the Chief Executive Officer for ensuring that the marketing, communications and online services activities are conducted in accordance with the organisation’s Strategic Plan. The position is within the Development and External Relations section of the organisation. It reflects the commitment of Hepatitis Victoria to increasing the awareness amongst the Victorian community in relation to viral hepatitis as well as the role of the organisation in responding to this. The position also reflects the desire for information about hepatitis to be accessible to as many people as possible using a variety of different media, including online services. The marketing and promotions component of the position ensures the development, delivery and evaluation of the organisation’s communications and awareness raising objectives. The position is responsible for the continuing growth and maintenance of Hepatitis Victoria’s profile within the health and community sector, the broader community and the media. The Marketing, Communications and Online Services Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the organisation’s Community Advocates and Community Participation programs, working closely with the rest of the team and the CEO to meet the organisation’s awareness raising and organisational positioning objectives. KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS 5.1 Awareness Raising Develop, implement and evaluate an ongoing awareness raising strategy in relation to viral hepatitis in Victoria Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to further the reach and influence of Hepatitis Victoria Co-ordinate awareness raising activities such as seminars and conferences. 5.2 Communications Identify and generate opportunities in multiple media platforms (including digital, print, broadcast) to promote awareness of viral hepatitis and Hepatitis Victoria Respond to developments in public debate and media relevant to viral hepatitis Develop and maintain key messaging both generally and in relation to topical matters Support the Chief Executive Officer in relation to internal communications with staff and the exchange of information with external stakeholders. 5.3 Online Services Manage the Hepatitis Victoria website and online communications, with minimal supervision and high level input and advice Develop and maintain a high quality, innovative and accessible digital presence for Hepatitis Victoria Drive innovative approaches to online services, including the capacity for external audiences to create content and share experiences Contribute to the development and implementation of online educational and information sharing tools. 5.4 Resource Management Coordinate the development, production and overall distribution of new information resources Coordinate the production of organisational documents such as the Annual Report and regular newsletters and journals, both electronic and hard copy. 5.5 Promotions and Events Develop, implement and evaluate an ongoing marketing and promotional strategy for Hepatitis Victoria Identify strategies to enlist the support of external individuals and organisations to assist in Hepatitis Victoria’s promotion and marketing activities Coordinate promotional activities and events 5.6 Leadership and Teamwork Oversee the Hepatitis Victoria’s Community Participation and Community Advocates programs, providing leadership advice and managing the program budgets and professional development of staff. Work with colleagues to enhance the organisation’s profile and community awareness of hepatitis Work with colleagues to ensure the development and availability of information resources Attend and participate in regular staff meetings, orientations, and other staff and public events as required Prepare regular operational reports on responsibilities, with analysis and measurements of outcomes, and use to explain the role and contribution of the organisation. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Essential Qualifications in marketing, communications or related discipline or demonstrated significant experience in a similar role Excellent working knowledge of contemporary communication practices, particularly in the digital area Proven experience in successfully managing complex websites and implementing a wide variety of digital applications Demonstrated innovation in relation to the application of social media and online communication tools, including the facilitation of input and sharing of information by external users Experience in the management of a staff team including individual supervision, monitoring performance and the oversight of budgets Working knowledge of Content Management Systems (Website Management), Email Direct Marketing, Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite, preferably Photoshop and InDesign Proven experience in developing and implementing marketing and awareness raising campaigns using a variety of media including email and online communication campaigns Demonstrated ability to communicate complex and sometimes sensitive messages to a variety of audiences using a wide variety of media Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build networks and work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders by providing strategic and technical advice Demonstrated ability to identify improvements, recommend solutions, innovate and work proactively Strong negotiation and time management skills, with the capacity to respond flexibly and to manage multiple projects as well as external suppliers. Desirable An ability to access a network of media contacts The ability to develop an in-depth understanding of the complexities of viral hepatitis A driver’s licence current for the State of Victoria. 7. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT The conditions of employment are those contained in the Hepatitis Victoria Enterprise Bargaining Agreement 2010 A vehicle will be provided for work related duties.
