-----------------------------------------------------------------------------We hope all the YCS Mom’s had a wonderful Mother’s Day
yesterday. We are also excited to share some wonderful
news with everyone this week.
The YCS SPRING AUCTION WAS A GIGANTIC
SUCCESS!!!
Thank you to everyone for making our Sixth Annual Spring
Auction such a great success. The YCS Cafeteria was
transformed into a NYC skyline with the buildings created by
each class and each student. We want to extend a special
thank you Adeleh Petochi-Nassri and Ruth Berghammer,
our Co-Vice Presidents of Major Fundraising who worked
tirelessly planning and implementing this year’s event.
It could not have been accomplished with out this year’s
Auction Subcommittee Chairs, Jen Steinfink and John
Bullingham who handled all the Food & Beverages, Allison
Gutstein and Kaena Clark, who did such an awesome job
Decorations and Entertainment, and Alison Dow, Nancy
Martin and Sonali Jasuja who handled all the Finance and
Fulfillment, and finally all the Underwriters and Volunteers.
Attendees enjoyed wonderful food from local restaurants in
the YCS community and rocked out during a live
performance by YCS Dad Steve Conte… when not dancing
to NYC themed music.
Between the ticket sales, raffles, mystery envelopes, Silent
and Live Auctions, you helped the PTA raise more than
$75,000. Thanks to the hard work, dedication and
generosity of many, this puts us one step closer to our goal
of raising the funds necessary to provide those wonderful
enrichment programs that benefits ALL the children at the
Yorkville Community School. From music and movement to
chess, financial literacy, or technology in the class rooms,
each program complements and supplements the core
curriculum and allows our children to gain new skills in
important areas that are vital for future success in school
and life.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------YCS ROOFTOP PLAYGROUND AND GREEN HOUSE
If you did not make it to the Spring Auction, then you missed
the public announcement by our City Council Member Ben
Kallos that YCS had won the participatory voting conducted
in our District and that $500,000 in public funding will be
allocated for our YCS rooftop play yard and greenhouse
space. We’d like to thank Ruth Berghammer and Derek
Pierce for all their efforts in working with our elected
officials, and most importantly all those YCS Parents for
getting out to vote.
