 Contingency Bills
o Financial Management Association (FMA)
 Therefore, be it resolved by the Student Senate of James Madison
University, that the Student Government Association allocate $2,100 in
contingency funds to assist with supplies and speaker fees for the
Speaker Series, and assist with Travel, Hotel and Conference fees for the
Finance Leaders’ Conference.
 Debate
 This resolution is passed by unanimous consent by the Executive
Council.
 Resolutions
o Mark Warner
 Therefore, be it resolved by the Student Senate of James Madison
University, that the Student Government Association wishes to
congratulate Senator Mark Warner on his reelection to the United
States Senate and thank him for his dedication to furthering the
successes of higher education; and be it further resolved, that the
Student Government Association would like to continue to develop its
relationship with the elected officials of The Commonwealth of Virginia,
particularly Senator Mark Warner, in furthering the mission of higher
education and supporting those involved in the higher education
system.

 This resolution is passed by unanimous consent by the Executive
Council.
o Bob Goodlatte
 Therefore, be it resolved by the Student Senate of James Madison
University that the Student Government Association wishes to
congratulate Congressman Bob Goodlatte on his reelection to the
United States House of Representatives and thank him for his
dedication to furthering the successes of higher education; and Be it
further resolved, that the Student Government Association would like to
continue to develop its relationship with the elected officials of The
Commonwealth of Virginia, particularly Congressman Bob Goodlatte, in
furthering the mission of higher education, James Madison University,
and supporting those involved in the higher education system.
 Debate
 This resolution is called to a vote and passed with a vote of 2-1-0 by the
Executive Council.

Therefore, be it resolved by the Student Senate of James Madison
University, that the James Madison University Student Government
Association will partner with Student Greater Madison in an effort to
cultivate a stronger relationship between the Harrisonburg and James
Madison University communities with the creation of the Friendly
Neighbors Coalition. This partnership and coalition will exist to bridge
communication and create an environment conducive for constructive,
proactive civic discourse between civic leaders and residents within the
city and student leaders, faculty and administration of James Madison
University. And be it further resolved that, the James Madison
University Student Government Association will promote responsible
and respectful behavior within the broader James Madison University
community, as the James Madison University Student Government
Association wishes to have a stronger presence within the Harrisonburg
Community.

Debate
This resolution is passed by unanimous consent by the Executive
Council.
Legislative Action Chair: Josh Humphries
 Working on smoking on campus.
 Going to city council to deliver resolution on December 9th.
 Writing letter to electoral board.
 Emailing state board of elections to try to be a part of the conversation about the
language on electoral documents.
 Looking into friendly amendments on the noise ordinance.
 Post election conference will be next Friday.
 Precinct project will be brought up again. Lobbying for a student only precinct.

o Went well. Really proud of committee and all the work they have done.
Professor Appreciation Week
o Will now be virtual/online.

 Dinner instead of a meeting next week at Quaker Steak and Lube at 5:15PM.

 SGA T-shirt Discussion: Know we are getting Rugby’s and T-shirts. Rework what the
logo we have on the hats to put on the shirt. Advice? Idea to have a shirt to give away
at the retreat.
 Town Hall Day: Video is on the Facebook group. Working with Meredith to make the
town hall day simpler for people on Tuesday. Signs will be going up in the dorms
tomorrow.
 Communication Team Presentation: Social Media 101 in senate. Would it be
beneficial?

 Freshman class t-shirts need some work.

 Next Wednesday we are driving into Bridgeforth with shirts. Let us know if you can
help.
 Class Council
o Freshman class is trying to do a how to do a how to use a library course.
o Sophomores are working on ring ceremony.
o Juniors are working on tree lighting, December 5th at 5:30.
o Seniors are working on countdowns.
 Gold Rush is set for February 4th.
 New UCAC spot for an Animal spot.

 TedX: A meeting has been scheduled. Most likely for next year not this year.
 VA21: Asked to be in a video, politely declined.
 Creation of a statewide SGA structure: Talking with Presidents of other universities to
have a formalized system of SGA chapters.
