Year 12 Theatre Studies
Unit 3, Outcome 3
Analyse and evaluate ways in which a written playscript selected from the prescribed playlist
is interpreted in its production to an audience.
The main focus of this outcome has been to look at how a written playscript from the Unit 3
Theatre Studies Playlist was interpreted for a production in front of an audience.
You should be able to both analyse and evaluate the process of interpretation that took place
by actors and other members of the stagecraft team.
The main topics you need to revise are:
 The historical, social and cultural contexts in the written playscript
 The historical, social and cultural contexts n the production
 The theatrical styles in the written playscript
 The theatrical styles in the production
 How the acting and other stagecraft was used to interpret the written playscript
 How well the written playscript was interpreted in the production
You will need to demonstrate that you can write about the written playscript and the
production of it using ‘appropriate theatrical language, terminology and expressions.’
Please answer the following questions for homework. The questions in bold are the
important questions within each section. The questions before these are helping you to
answer them, so it is ok to repeat yourself from a prior question within the bold question.
If you have any questions at all, no matter how small, please feel free to contact me!
