Conflicts in class times may require modification of this plan. 1. Biology majors are strongly advised to complete the required math coursework as quickly as possible and to take math classes every semester until completing MATH 1210. Math prerequisites are valid for at most one year and must have C or C- grades or better. MATH 0900, 1010, 1050, and 1060 may be required for those not prepared to begin MATH 1210. If you do not have a math grade or test (ACT, SAT, MPE) score within the last year, you will be required to take the Math Placement Exam to begin the math coursework. 2. A minimum of 24 credits are needed to meet University Studies in addition to the coursework specified above. This includes: Breadth Humanities (BHU) ENGL 1010 Breadth Social Sciences (BSS) ENGL 2010 1 Communication Intensive Course (CI) Breadth American Institutions (BAI) Depth Humanities and Creative Arts (DHA) Breadth Creative Arts (BCA) Depth Social Sciences (DSS) See General Catalog or the Major Requirements Sheet for more details. 3. Students must take one elective course from each of the following four clusters: Plant Biology Cluster electives: Other Electives*: BIOL 4421 Plant Taxonomy I (Sp) BIOL 3065 Genetics Laboratory (F) BIOL 4422 Plant Taxonomy II (F) BIOL 4250 Internship/Co-op (F, Sp, Su) BIOL 4430 Introduction to Plant Pathology (Sp) BIOL 4410 Plant Structure (Sp) WILD 3600 Wildland Plant Ecology and Identification (F) BIOL 5310 Soil Microbiology (F) WILD 3830 Range Plant Taxonomy and Function (F) BIOL 5800 Undergraduate Research (F, Sp, Su) WILD 3820 Forest Plants: Identification, Biology, and Function (F) Animal Biology Cluster electives: BIOL 4500 Applied Entomology (Sp) BIOL 5530 Insect Systematics and Evolution (F) BIOL 5550 Freshwater Invertebrates (Sp) BIOL 5560 Ornithology (Sp) BIOL 5570 Herpetology (Sp) BIOL 5580 Mammalogy (Sp) Ecology/Evolution Cluster Electives: BIOL 4060 (CI) Exploring Animal Behavior (F) BIOL 5010 Biogeography (Sp) BIOL 5380 Evolutionary Genetics (F) BIOL 5590 Animal Community Ecology (F) WILD 4600 Conservation Biology (Sp) *Students must take one additional course from this list or from the other clusters or other upper-division courses approved by advisor 4. Students must select from the following list, one upper-division physiology course with an integrated lab or separate laboratory: BIOL 4400 Plant Physiology (F) BIOL 4600 Advanced Human Physiology (Sp) BIOL 5300 Microbial Physiology (F) Courses with separate lecture and lab BIOL 5100 Neurobiology (Sp) and 5610 Animal Physiology Laboratory (F) or BIOL 5600 Comparative Animal Physiology (F) and BIOL 5610 Animal Physiology Laboratory (F)
