One thing that remains true across the board is that budgets are tight, and colleges and universities have to find innovative ways to meet the sometimes opposing forces of time and cost constraints and the need to provide a high quality environment for their students. Job Order Contracting (JOC) is providing the balanced approach that allows higher education institutions around the nation to efficiently accomplish high-quality work. This topic has garnered attention at recent national and regional APPA conferences, as higher education facilities maintenance supervisors discuss the time and cost-savings associated with the Job Order Contracting procurement method for repair and alteration projects. Keith Greene of The Gordian Group, along with Owen J. Cooks, Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities at WinstonSalem State University and other members of the university community, will present real world examples of how Job Order Contracting is driving value and helping institutions become more efficient and deliver a top quality environment to their students. Mr. Greene has experience implementing and training for Job Order Contracting programs at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Purdue University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Illinois at Chicago, the Ohio State University and Emory University. Learning objectives: 1. By attending this session participants will be able to employ best practices in order to understand how a Job Order Contracting program can deliver high quality, cost efficient solutions. 2.
