Background Information The mission of the Principals Australia Institute is to ensure that principals and school leaders in Australia receive the support they require to achieve the best outcomes for their school communities, through professional learning, systems and resources that reflect the best evidence available. The Principals Australia Institute (PAI) is a not-for-profit organisation, owned by the four peak associations, representing primary and secondary principals leading and managing Government, Catholic and Independent schools across the country. PAI has its main corporate and program management functions based in Adelaide. PAI receives no financial support from its four member associations, and is funded to manage a number of national projects, including: MindMatters (MM) KidsMatter Primary (KMP) Dare to Lead (DTL) Leading Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Learning KidsMatter Primary is a mental health and wellbeing initiative for primary schools. It was developed in collaboration with Principals Australia Institute, beyondblue and the Australian Psychological Society, with funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing and beyondblue. KidsMatter Primary aims to support schools to strengthen their capacity to improve mental health and wellbeing of all students, and achieve greater support for students experiencing mental health difficulties. 1|P a g e Summary of the broad purpose of the position The position of Communications Officer will be responsible for implementation the KidsMatter Primary communications plan, managing sponsorship and strategic communications partnerships for KidsMatter Primary, and oversight of the production of KidsMatter Primary promotional materials and resources. 3. Reporting / Working relationships The successful applicant will: 4. Report to Ms Shannon Short (line manager) and Jeremy Hurley, National Coordinator. Work closely with KidsMatter national staff and state and territory teams and KidsMatter partner organisations. Develop good working relationships with all PAI staff. Special Conditions Some limited out-of-hours work and interstate travel may be required. 5. Key Responsibilities / Duties Actioning the KidsMatter Primary communications plan Managing and maintaining sponsorship and strategic communications partnerships Oversight of the production of staff and state/territory e-newsletters Liaison with the Australian Psychological Society on the production of all KidsMatter professional development resources and management of print production Oversight of content and the KMP website ensuring that it is up-to-date, accurate and clearly communicates KMP key messages. Oversight of the production of all other communication materials including advertising, marketing and promotional materials. Ensuring KMP and PAI branding is correctly applied in all settings. Experience 2. Proven experience in communication and public relations ideally in a service based organisation Relevant formal qualifications in marketing or communications Proven experience in: Project management including the production of marketing collateral branding advertising writing for a variety of audiences and mediums editing and proof reading website management and electronic communication media liaison Demonstrated ability to liaise with third party providers (printers, PR agencies) Proven ability to manage multiple projects within budget and on time. Experience in resource development and production is desirable. Knowledge 3. Solid understanding of: the principles behind clear and effective communication how to prepare high quality briefs, plans and marketing collateral project management including managing print production the media industry. Knowledge of communication techniques utilising social media is desirable.
