our Catholic values and beliefs?

RULES AND REGULATIONS
The scholarships will be awarded as follows to the applicants in the following two categories:
There will be a one- time scholarship award of $500 for tuition assistance to the Catholic High School
attended in 2013 by one applicant judged most deserving between freshman through senior years.
There will be a one- time scholarship award of $1,000 for tuition assistance to the College/University
(Undergraduate Program) attended in 2013 by one applicant judged most deserving between
freshman through senior years.
The scholarship award must be made payable to a parent or guardian of the winning student or to the
student if the parent or guardian instructs. Proof must be given showing the tuition due for the High
School or College/University for 2013 semester and later showing payment was made.
Only students who are registered parishioners of American Martyrs R.C. Church or students who are
children of members of the Father John J. Murray Knights of Columbus Council # 14666 are eligible to
participate. Applicants must be baptized Catholics and may be asked to provide baptismal certificate.
Applicants cannot be the recipient of a full scholarship to a Catholic High School or College/University.
Once a student wins a scholarship in their category (High School or College/University), they are no
longer eligible to be awarded a scholarship in that category in ensuing years.
The applicants will first be judged on recent scholastic grades (last full school year 2011-2012 and
current school year’s 2012–2013 available grades at due date of contest) and then on a response to a
500 or less word essay on a particular topic (found on application) as well as a brief personal
statement. Any special recognition received for scholastic excellence as well as extra-curricular and
community service activities will be considered as well. The scholarship will be given to a parish
student over a Father John J. Murray Knights of Columbus Council member’s child in event of a tie.
If the winner of the scholarship decides not to attend a Catholic High School or a College/University in
fall of 2013, the winnings must be returned and given to the next most deserving applicant.
The Scholarship Committee of Council # 14666 has the final decision in regards to any scholarship
awarded by the Council.
Applications must be submitted by May 19th, 2013; Award winners to be announced June 9th, 2013.
