How can you join us? For Reception, children who become statutory school age of 5 if born between 1st September and 31st August, they will come to school full time in the Autumn Term (September). The LA manage the process and you will be asked to complete a PCAF form to be returned to School Admissions at 2nd Floor, High Street Buildings, High Street, Huddersfield, HD1 2NF. There is also an online facility for the completion of the PCAF form. School Admissions can be contacted at 01484 225007 or by email: schooladmissions@kirklees.gov.uk or: website www.kirklees.gov.uk/admissions In Year transfer of school places is also managed by School Admissions where an ICAF form needs to be completed. For Nursery admission you will be asked to complete an application form N which is returned to school. The term before your child is due to start in Nursery you will be contacted to inform you if your child has a place or not. We currently have three intakes of children into Nursery; September, January and April. For all admissions into our school we follow strict admission policies and these are outlined below in priority order for admission to all key stages including Nursery. 1) children in public care (looked after children) 2) children who live in the school’s Priority Admission Area (PAA) who have an older brother or sister attending from the same address at the date of admission 3) other children who live in the school’s priority admission area 4) children who live outside the school’s PAA who have an older brother or sister attending from the same address at the time of admission 5) other children who live outside the school’s PAA. Community and controlled schools will admit children with Statements of Special Educational Needs where the school is named in the Statement. a) b) c) Notes Children in priority 1 above may also be admitted above the Published Admission Number (PAN). If we cannot agree to requests for admission in priorities 2 to 5 above without exceeding the PAN, we will give priority up to the PAN to children living nearest the school. Distance is measured in a straight line from a child’s home address to the school. Measurements are calculated using seven-figure grid references for each address taken from Ordnance Survey ADDRESS-POINT® data. This grid reference relates to a point that falls within the permanent building structure d) e) f) corresponding to the address. The boundary of the building structure for the address is derived from Ordnance Survey Land-Line data. For smaller, residential properties the grid reference denotes a point near the centre of the building. For larger properties, like schools with, for example, multiple buildings and large grounds, the grid reference relates to a point inside the main addressable building structure. The distance calculated is accurate to within 0.1 metres. ‘Live’ means the child’s permanent home at the date when applications close or, if a significant house move is involved, the latest reasonable date before the final allocation of places. It is expected the allocation process will take place on 12 January 2009. For children transferring from First and Middle schools, preference within any of the priorities 2 to 5 above (up to the PAN) will be given to children attending either a first school in the middle school priority admission area, or a middle school in the high school priority admission area. A Priority Admission Area means a geographical area determined by Kirklees in consultation with the governing body of the school. NB There is no longer a guaranteed place for any child in any of the priorities at any key stage. When you want a place at our school for your child you will be asked to produce your child’s birth certificate proof of your address. Before your child’s first day Parents/carers of all new starters are invited to a special evening presentation in July before your child starts in September when staff from Early Years will give you lots more helpful information about starting school. If your child is starting in Nursery (Butterflies) the arrangements differ slightly and will be communicated to you following the offer of a place in Nursery. If you wish your child to be admitted into school mid way through the year because you have moved into the area or for any other reason, please contact the school to make an appointment to discuss admission arrangements.
