Evidence: Writing Different Types of Poems
Write one of each type of poem (a total of 4 poems). Your grade will be based on how accurately you follow the
formatting requirements for each type of poem.
1.
Alphabet: Begin each line with any 5 letters from the alphabet; letters must be in alphabetical order,
or Acrostic: Begin each line with a letter that makes up a word (5 letters or more). Example= your name
2.
Haiku: 3-line poem with 5-7-5 syllable pattern; about nature.
3.
Shape: Write words in the shape of the object you’re describing.
4.
Diamante: Follow the format below to create a poem in the shape of a diamond:
noun
2 adjectives
3 –ing words
4 nouns (2 related to first noun, 2 related to second noun)
3 –ing words
