Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities 1. To research the mechanisms of transcriptional control of allergen presentation and allergic sensitisation in human skin. This will include: a) b) c) d) e) % Time 70 % Designing and planning the biological and computational experiments in discussion with the project lead Laboratory experimentation, data recording, statistical analysis, critical evaluation and interpretation of data Data mining, background reading and library research Optimisation of new experimental procedures, including Quality Assurance / Data integrity Collaborate/work on original research tasks with colleagues in other institutions. 2. Take a primary responsibility for preparation of reports for manuscripts for leading peerreviewed journals 10 % 3. Any other duties as allocated by the line manager following consultation with the post holder. 1% Internal and external relationships Direct responsibility to Systems Immunology Group Leader, Wellcome Trust Research Fellow. The studies will involve multi-disciplinary approaches and will involve collaboration with basic scientists, clinicians and pathologists. The person appointed will need to interact closely with others in the research group and with external collaborators to ensure good progress and high quality results. Directly responsibility to the Wellcome Trust. Special Requirements Flexible working hours (evening and weekend work) as necessary and attendance at meetings and national and international conferences for the purpose of disseminating research results will be expected. Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
