Information Sheet for potential FBLA members What is FBLA? California FBLA is a student organization committed to preparing today's students for success in business leadership California FBLA is an affiliate of the National Future Business Leaders of America - Phi Beta Lambda, Inc. The FBLA Mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. We bring our mission to life through the application of our Motto: Service, Education, and Progress. Westlake FBLA is a chapter member of the Gold Coast Section of California FBLA What is the time commitment? Members should attend two chapter meetings a month. These meetings will take place either at lunch or after school Members should participate in at least one community service project and at least one fundraising project prior to the State Leadership Conference Members may attend the Southern CA Leadership Development Institute (LDI). Must be a paid member and attended 80% of club meeting by the date of LDI. Members may attend the Gold Coast Section Conference-an all day Saturday event. Members must attend the entire conference including the awards ceremony. Must be a paid member, have attended 80% of the club meetings, have participated in at least one community service project and one fundraising project and attended OAT Day or LDI Members may only attend the State Leadership Conference if they are a paid member in good standing, have attended 80% of the club meetings, have participated in at least one community service project and one fundraising project, attended OAT Day or LDI and the Gold Coast Section Conference What is the financial commitment?** Members are asked make a $20 donation in order to be a paid member in good standing for CAFBLA and the National FBLA organization. Students must be a paid member in order to participate in FBLA events. The cost to attend the Southern CA Leadership Development Institute will be $125.00. This is an overnight trip (one night). The cost to attend the Gold Coast Section Leadership Conference will be $75.00 The cost to attend the State Leadership Conference will be $300.00. This is an overnight trip (two nights) Members who qualify for the National Leadership Conference will need to pay all of their own expenses and have a chaperone who will also need to pay all of their own expenses. Cost depends on airfare and hotel costs. NLC will be in Chicago for 2015 COSTS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE What is the benefit of joining FBLA? FBLA and FBLA-PBL partners also offers thousands of dollars in scholarships each year. **Joining Westlake FBLA is voluntary and extra-curricular. Students who have a financial hardship may speak with the adviser to determine if any assistance is available.
