Currently with 103 active chapters and over 2,650 members across South Carolina, we are the premier business student organization preparing students for careers in leadership and business related fields! WHAT WE DO • As a member of FBLA, you will get the chance to… – Attend local, state, and national conferences – Participate in competitive events – Develop business and leadership skills as you become a local, state, or national officer – Network with thousands of members just like you – Get involved in your local community – Develop skills and discover talents that you will carry into your future career Our History In 1947, Greenville High School chartered the first chapter in South Carolina In 1937, Hamden L. Forkner proposes the concept of FBLA to business teachers In 1949, South Carolina FBLA is given an official state charter from FBLA-PBL , Inc. March of Dimes DID YOU KNOW…that in the United States 1 in 9 babies is born prematurely? • March of Dimes is the FBLA national service partner – The MOD Mission is to help make sure every baby is born strong and healthy while bringing awareness and support for premature babies. – At the 2014 NLC, FBLA-PBL announced that we have raised a total of over $400,000 for March of Dimes! – Local and state chapters conduct fundraisers to show their support for March of Dimes! CONFERENCES • DISTRICT • STATE • NATIONAL State Fall Leadership Conference An innovative and exciting conference that will introduce and welcome all FBLA members and advisers to the 2014-2015 year! • When: October 4, 2014 • Where: Westwood High School in Blythewood, SC (Columbia Area) • What: Workshops for members and advisers, round table discussions, open competitive events, and exciting sessions!
