The study of plants - agriculture, agronomy,

physiology, plant pathology, plant genetics,
hydroponics. algae, etc.
CHEMISTRY
The study of the nature and composition of matter
and the laws that govern it - Physical chemistry,
organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, materials,
plastics, fuels, pesticides, metallurgy, soil chemistry,
etc.
EARTH AND SPACE SCIENCE
The study of Earth processes, meteorology,
astronomy, geology, mineralogy, physiography,
oceanography, climatology, speleology, seismology,

Computer science is the study and development of
software or hardware including networking and the
Internet
ENVIRONMENTAL
The study of various pollution sources such as air,
water, land, thermal, sound, and their and control
and/or elimination; Ecology
Mathematical Sciences
The study of the measurement, properties, and
relationships of quantities and sets, using numbers and
symbols. The deductive study of numbers, geometry, and
various abstract constructs, or structures.
MEDICINE AND HEALTH
The study of diseases and health of humans and
animals - dentistry, pharmacology, pathology,
ophthalmology, nutrition, sanitation, pediatrics,
gerontology, neonatology, dermatology, allergies,
speech, hearing, etc.
MICROBIOLOGY
The study of the biology of various microorganisms bacteriology, virology, protozoology, fungi, bacterial
genetics, yeast, etc. Please remember no cultures
may be displayed at the science fair.
PHYSICS
Physics is the study of the laws governing energy
and the effect of energy on matter - optics,
acoustics, fluid and gas dynamics, thermodynamics,
magnetism etc
ZOOLOGY
The study of animals - animal genetics, ornithology,
ichthyology, herpetology, entomology, animal
ecology, paleontology, cellular physiology, animal
husbandry, histology, animal physiology, studies of
invertebrates, etc. Please remember to follow all
ISEF rules pertaining to this area. Also note that no
animals may be displayed at the fair.
