As a result of information received, police attended at a jewellery shop on Port Road, Allenby Gardens and took possession of a brooch on the 11th April 2012. The brooch was taken to the home of a Lady Cooper at North Adelaide where the brooch was identified as one taken in a burglary a month earlier. The burglary took place on the 9th March 2012. The proprietor of the jewellery store was questioned and as a result of information received from him, police questioned the defendant, Angas Frampton. The defendant admitted that he had taken the brooch to the jeweller and had received $600 for the brooch. He said that he had received the brooch from a man by the name of Carlos. He said he had paid $200 for it and that he knew when he took it that it was stolen, or thought it very likely that it was stolen. He said that he believed that the brooch would be worth somewhat more than $200. It was put to him that the brooch was worth about $2 100.
