Varsity Band
2015 - 2016
The Varsity Band is made up of band members who commit to performing for all the winter sports events
the Band appears at. This year's schedule includes fifteen home events plus possible WIAA tournament
games.
Students who meet the requirements will earn a Varsity Letter in recognition of their efforts. Students
completing their second, third, or fourth seasons receive additional recognition. This also qualifies as an
"A Project" for both 2nd and 3rd quarters.
The requirements include:
Perform at fourteen or more of the scheduled events
Perform at all WIAA tournament games the band is part of
Participate in the morning rehearsals (there are usually about two per year, held on
school day mornings)
Students are allowed one absence for the season.
Students who are Varsity athletes are excused from those home events they will be
participating in as an athlete.
Winter sport athletes are excused from those events that happen when their school team is
at an away event.

The Varsity Band also performs at WIAA basketball tournament games held at MHHS as well as
basketball tournament games played on the road beginning with the Regional Championship game. The
tournament game schedule is available on the WIAA website (wiaawi.org) if you need to know potential
dates. The Girls’ Tournament starts February 23, the Boys’ Tournament starts March 1.
Fair Warning: the Boys’ Basketball State Tournament is the Friday/Saturday at the
start of Spring Break!
