Stage 1 – Call for Nominations
Nomination of DRS Council members
Each year, half the DRS Council is elected to serve for 2 years. This year we need to elect 6 Council
members. The Council is the main vehicle for running and developing DRS. Council members are not just
experts in their area of research; they undertake a variety of work for DRS: for example, forming groups to
steer the development of new activities.
Nomination of DRS Council Officers
We also need nominations to the elections for council officers. These are the people who take the main
responsibility for running DRS.
To stand for election you must be a fully paid-up member of DRS and you must be nominated by another
current member. You should also provide a statement about yourself (max 500 words), to help members
understand your experience and what you hope to achieve for DRS as a member of our council.

Please attach a statement (maximum 500 words) by the person you have nominated, describing their
experience in design research and the ways in which they would like to support the development of the
society. This statement will be sent to DRS members with the ballot paper so it is a very important part of
the process, members will use these statements to decide who will represent them best and do
constructive work for the society.
Nominations must be emailed to the Hon Secretary, Dave Garrett at D.W.Garrett@lboro.ac.uk, by 12
noon GMT on Wednesday, 4 June 2014. The election will then take place, and the results will be
announced at the DRS Annual General Meeting on 30th June 2014.
