Job Description Job title: Temporary Teaching Fellow (0.4 FTE, 41 weeks fixed term) in Cell and Developmental Biology Department: Biology and Biochemistry Grade: 7 (point 30) Location: Department of Biology and Biochemistry , 4 South, Claverton Down, University of Bath Job purpose The successful applicant will cover the teaching of Dr Andrew Chalmers. Duties will include giving undergraduate lectures, running masters level seminar units and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate project students. The Department places great value on quality of teaching as determined by a combination of good practice, student achievement, and good student feedback, and will endeavour to support the candidate in delivering high-quality teaching. As part of this, the candidate will, if appropriate, register for modules towards the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic and Professional Practice which is run within the University. Source and nature of management provided Dr Christopher Todd, Director of Teaching Dr Richard Hooley, Head of Department Staff management responsibility N/A Main duties and responsibilities 1 Teach undergraduate, MRes and MSc students registered on the courses listed below and mark assessed work: BB10006 - Cell & Molecular Biology (4 lectures) BB20024 - The Dynamic Cell 1 (6 lectures) Page 1 2 3 BB40184 - Cell Biology of metastasis (10 X 2hr seminars) Tutorials (1st & 2nd & 3rd year) Supervise Project Students: Final year Undergraduate, and MRes/MSc postgraduate. First and second marking of projects. Act as course convenor for the following; BB20024 - The Dynamic Cell 1, BB40184 - Cell Biology of Metastasis and BB20013/BB20014second year MCB tutorials. Act as MRes/MSc programme tutor for Developmental Biology. Contribute to teaching-related tasks, eg. UCAS visitors, Open Days. Attend management meetings, unit boards, and programme boards, to plan and monitor teaching and related student issues through the academic year Undertake occasional related teaching duties where necessary as required by the Head of Department Page 2 Person Specification Criteria Essential Desirable Assessed by A/F Qualifications PhD in cell, developmental or cancer biology.
