Creating a Newspaper in Publisher
For our next assignment, you will be creating a school newspaper in Publisher. After
you finish, we’ll upload the newspaper to an online publishing site called Issuu. Then
once it’s online, we’ll put it into your Wix portfolio.
This assignment has many different parts, and you can do them in any order. There is
an example on the very last page of this assignment
Part 1: The Front Page

Part 2: School News Article

Part 3: An Interview
____ You will need to interview someone outside of this class

Part 5: A Game or Puzzle

Part 7: A Survey

____ Send the survey to at least 10 friends using email, twitter, and facebook
____ Include a graph of the results in your newspaper
When your newspaper is finished go to File, Save as, and change the file type to PDF
Then save it! Now we’re ready to upload your magazine to Issuu 
Uploading Your Magazine to Issuu
1) Go to www.issuu.com
2) If you used Issuu last year, sign in. If not, click “sign up”
3) At the top, middle click Upload
4) Select the PDF file of your newspaper that you just created.
5) Give your newspaper a title and a description
6) Click Publish Now
7) Wait a moment, then click Open Publication
8) At the bottom, click “Share”
9) Then, click “Embed”
10) Finally, copy the “Embed Code” at the bottom and we’ll put that into your Wix!
Embedding Your Magazine on Wix
1) Log into your Wix account.
2) Create a new page for your site named “Online Publishing”
3) Click the “Plus” button on the left, click “Apps” and then click “HTML”
4) Click on the new box, and under the settings change the mode to HTML Code
5) Paste your code from Issuu in the empty box and then click “Update”
6) Add a title, a description of the assignment, and what you liked and didn’t like

7) Add the class standards, save, publish, and send me the link to your site!
