Systems Engineer Principal Job Reference: LM People Job Code/Title: Location: Programme / Functional Group: LMUK6957 E1466I / Systems Engineer Prin Belgium International Description of Business Environment: The Application Migration Architect will have responsibility for ensuring the completeness of application and data migration technical planning, execution, and the development of supporting artifacts, including requirements discovery and analysis. The project involves the consolidation of IT services and application and data migrations into a centralized data center for improved operating efficiencies and centralized management. The discovery, anaylysis, and planning as led by the Application Migration Architect will lead to the formulation of the migration solution design, identification of solution alternatives and associated assessments, identification of applicable technologies to execute migrations, and the development of test, execution, and sustainment plans. Specific Job Description: Lead the technical aspects of the migrations program Identify and document application salient characteristics (i.e. ports, protocols, SSL, DNS, hostnames, storage, etc.) required for sustained operations and maintenance at the conclusion of the migration Creation of required data collection artifacts Responsible for technical deliverables, for data quality and completeness of requirements generated from migrations database; if manually generated, responsible for completing or assigning Ensure Migration best practice and technical guidelines, artifacts prescribed, etc. are adhered to in a timely manner; e.g. application flows, technical architecture, test plans and any other success driven artifact are completed. Responsible for working closely with SMEs to ensure a successful execution of data collection and analysis Responsible for development of transformational options and activities Responsible for performing a gap analysis and assessment to determine completeness of compute, virtualization, storage, network, and security information Raises Issues and identifies Risks in a Timely Manner Responsible for Technical Execution plan in coordination with the PM and the Lead Architect Works closely with the application stakeholders to insure optimal peformance and accessibility post migration The successful candidate collaborates with internal teams to define and implement solutions and lead preliminary and critical design review sessions detailing the overall approach for performing the migrations. The role will require a University Degree in Computer Science, Software Development or related discipline, preferably equivalent to a Master’s and supplemented by relevant postgraduate qualifications, supported by relevant certificates/ diplomas. Exceptionally extensive relevant experience may be considered if the above qualifications are not met. The role will need experience of project management, resource planning and change / transition management skills with demonstrable experience in large ICT projects, supported by project references and description of role/responsibilities/activities. The role will require demonstrated practical and leadership experience in moving applications and data from virtualised / non-virtualised LAN local environments to new virtualized, centralised enterprise WAN environments in at least two projects during the last five years, supported by project references, point of contact, and description of role/responsibilities/activities. The role requires demonstrated practical and leadership experience in migrating and consolidating MS Exchange and MS SharePoint environments in at least a project during the last five years, supported by project references, point of contact, and description of role/responsibility/activities. The role will require demonstrated practical and leadership experience in coordinating transitions and changes in the international environment, supported by project references, point of contact, and description of role/responsibilities/activities. The role requires demonstrated practical and leadership experience in applying ITIL release and deployment process activities supported by project references, point of contact, and description of role/responsibilities/activities. The person for this role shall have hands-on experience with managing MS Windows server & clients, VMWare vSphere and/or MS Hyper-V, DHCP, DNS and Active Directory and UNIX/Linux environments supported by project references, point of contact, and description of role / responsibilities / activities The role shall need demonstrated practical knowledge and experience in using the MS Office suite, MS Project and SharePoint sites The person in this role will need a demonstrated spoken and written fluency in English. Desired Skills: Experience working with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) ITIL v3 Intermediate Level Certification having earned at least 12 points in the Service Capability area Exceptional level of skills and experience in relevant technologies The successful candidate should have at least one or more of the following certifications: from Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, BMC, EMC, and/or NetApp Project Management and/or Agile Certifications Standard Job Description: Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
