Seasonal Flu, Child Flu and Shingles Vaccinations
Information and dates of clinics
Vaccination clinics will be starting in October
Please make an appointment at reception:For Seasonal Flu
if you can say YES to any of the following:
You are aged 65 years or older (or aged 64 and will be 65 on or
before 31st March 2015)

You are the main carer for an elderly or disabled person whose
welfare may be at risk if you did fall ill
 You live in the same house as someone whose immune system is
compromised by disease or treatment

You are pregnant.
0r if you are over 6 months of age and have any of the conditions
listed below:

Chronic (i.e. long term) chest conditions including asthma requiring continuous or repeated use of inhaled steroids or
with previous attacks requiring hospital admission

Chronic cardiovascular disease e.g. previous heart attack, stroke or
any disease of the heart or circulation

Chronic kidney disease

Chronic liver disease

Diabetes mellitus requiring insulin, oral medication or diet control

Suppressed immunity due to disease including absence of the spleen
or a deficiency in the function of the spleen

Suppressed immunity due to medical treatment
Not in one of these groups but think you need a flu vaccination?
If you are healthy and aged under 65 and you do not fall into any of the
above categories then you do not need immunisation against seasonal flu.
This is because you are unlikely to develop complications from flu.
However, many pharmacies do offer this on a private basis for which you will
have to pay a fee direct to the pharmacy.
If you are a health care worker then please ask your employer to provide
you with your flu immunisation as this is no longer covered by GP Surgeries
and is the responsibility of the employer

Wednesday October 15th 2-5.30pm
Friday October 17th 2-5.30pm
For Child Flu Immunisation
All children who were aged 2 or 3 or 4 on 1st September 2014 and children
under 18 who are in any of the at-risk groups for flu identified above, are
invited to attend Child flu clinics for immunisation. This will be given by nasal
spray rather than injection. Parents will receive letters of invitation with
more information.

On Saturdays 4th & 18th October from 12 – 1pm
Child Flu Clinics are being held at Wistaria Surgery Lymington
Tuesday October 7th, Thursday October 9th, Wednesday October 15th &
Friday October 17th all from 4pm onwards
For Shingles Vaccination
If you were aged 70, 78 or 79 on 1 September 2014 you will receive a letter
inviting you to attend the combined shingles and flu clinic, where you can
receive both vaccinations.
