Personal Statement Dr. Raymond’s area of interest is the transition of diabetes care from a pediatric to an adult diabetes provider. This interest encompasses understanding how the adolescent matures into an adult capable of being independently responsible for intensive diabetes management, including achieving glucose levels, which will minimize risks for long-term complications of diabetes. Her research extends into understanding the processes of care necessary for a successful transition, as well as the behavioral maturation of young people. She is also interested in motivational and technological tools that may increase the likelihood of successful progression to responsible diabetes behavior. She currently has an American Diabetes Association Junior Faculty award at Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Raymond joined the faculty at The Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes in Aurora, Colorado, in July 2012 as a NIH K12 Scholar working in Transition of Diabetes Care in Adolescents and Young Adults. During the lifetime of this award, she will be ready to serve initially as a co-mentor, then as a mentor to trainees interested in Transitional Care. B.
