Panther Valley Football Handbook Discipline Policy As Head Coach, I believe that our football program provides a vital link between the school and the community. Student, parent, alumni, and community involvement in our program helps to enhance school spirit, develop sound minds and bodies, and develop skills and qualities which endure for life. As a general rule, all players are to conduct themselves with class and dignity, both on and off the field. Your behavior is a direct reflection of our school and football program. Any actions that will embarrass you, your team, school, or parents is an action that should not be taken. All players in this program will recognize and respect the authority of all coaches, teachers, administrators, and support staff members or they will not be a part of the team. Any violation is an indication that this football program, and being a part of it, is not important to you. Any violation will be dealt with accordingly, ranging from Pride Reminders (PR) to dismissal from the team. Those who work hard and adhere to these policies are showing that being part of this team is important and will be rewarded with success, satisfaction, and wins. 1st detention - Suspended for one half of next game 2nd detention - Suspended for next full game 3rd detention - Dismissed from team Pride Reminders Pride Reminders are a way to remind players of the pride that comes with being a part of the TEAM. Anytime that a player places a dark cloud over the TEAM (detention, suspension, arrest, etc) they will be dealt with accordingly by the coaching staff. Academic Policy Student athletes who are members of the Panther Valley Football Team will be held at a high standard. Being a strong student is the priority of every player on the team. We, as a coaching staff, are looking to develop quality young men. Players will be required to get a weekly “report card” filled out by their teachers on Tuesday which will list their current grade and any upcoming major assignments. Coaches will actively work with students who seek help in order to improve their grades. There will be no excuse as to why a player is not doing well in the classroom. At the Junior High level: If a player is deemed academically ineligible, they will be suspended for the week. After one week, if the player is ineligible again, they will be removed from the team. At the High School level: If a player is deemed academically ineligible, they will be removed from the team immediately. The only instance where a player will remain on the team is if one of the teachers that the player is failing does not want to see them removed from the team because they are putting forth their best effort. **In order to be ineligible, a student would have to be failing at least two major subjects or a major subject and two minor subjects. Weekly Report Card Players Name __________________________ Date _________ Course Grade (%) Upcoming Tests/Quizzes/Assignments Attendance: All student athletes will be expected to attend all mandatory practices. A player may be dismissed from the team after 3 unexcused practices. Please contact a coach ahead of time if you are unable to attend a practice.
