The main emphasis was to promote the recycling of pavements, the need was seen due to expertise in stabilisation being in pockets of Australia. The mission has changed slightly since then, and the association has grown and is now nationally recognized as the premier provider of information on pavement recycling and stabilisation. BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP Members of AustStab receive many tangible and intangible benefits. All members are: listed on the AustStab website as members; receive monthly newsletter updates of AustStab happenings; are invited to participate in relevant working groups; invited to attend and participate in the annual three day conference in August; gain access to the member network of AustStab; and are able to influence standards, education, research and promotion of pavement recycling and stabilisation throughout Australia. Contracting members are also: FEES accredited in accordance with the AustStab ARRB certification system. In 2014 AustStab's Council ratified a significant reduction in our Category F membership. Category F members are Government Contracting (Small) Member means a government contracting member responsible for operating two or less approved stabilisation mixing machines or reclaimer/stabilisers. The fee was reduced from $2000 per annum to $500 per annum for the financial year 2014 - 2015. There is also a significant one off joining fee, which will be waived for Category F members for the 2014 - 2015 financial year. All contracting members are also required to complete an ARRB AustStab system accreditation which incurs fees of $2,800 per day plus costs plus GST. Fees are invoiced annually at the start of the financial year. All members must remain financial to remain recorded on the membership register. PROCESS The process for joining AustStab varies in accordance with the membership type. Contracting Members Contracting members are required to submit: Application for membership of association; and Contracting Member application form. Forms are to be returned to: Administration (enquiry@auststab.com.au) for processing. Once the application form is received it is processed by the Standards Committee. The Standards Committee complete a desktop audit of the application and, if accepted, forward to the Council for probationary membership to the next scheduled Council meeting. The member will be listed on the AustStab website as a probationary member. Within 12 months a full audit, including a field audit will be completed. At the end of 12 months, subject to satisfactory conduct being observed during the probationary period.
