Spelling Homework Choice Board
Student Name: ___________________
Each week students will take a pretest over their spelling words and set a goal for
themselves over how many words they will spell correctly on that week’s posttest. It is
important to note that all students’ goals will be different based on the needs of the
student. Although all students will take the posttest over every word, students will be
accountable for the number of words set in their goal. During the week, students will be
asked to complete 3 assignments from the choice board and turn all spelling assignments in
on Friday. This board will work as a tic-tac-toe board, and students will be expected to do
3 assignments in a row diagonally, horizontally or vertically. It is also important to note that
students will complete their spelling homework based on their spelling goals for the week.
For example: If their goal is 10 words, they will need to practice with those ten words in
there spelling homework. Please DO NOT write on this choice board. Also, please keep this
choice board in your blue folder, as we will be using it for multiple weeks.

pyramid shape by adding an
additional letter to each row

words or the letters that make
up your goal words.
Cut them out and glue them to
a piece of paper.

Ask an adult to give you a
spelling test over ALL of your
