Whaling: To eliminate whaling in the Artic in a way that does not harm the ocean and human environments and lifestyles, so that biodiversity and natural order persevere. 2. Water quality: To eliminate pollution of water in Bolton Valley in a way that forces people to reflect and change Vermont industry styles, so that clean water is available to residents. 3. Clean energy: To reduce the carbon footprint of a town in a way that addresses multiple different energy techniques, so that the environment is not harmed, yet the locals keep their luxuries. 4. Recycling and composting: To reduce human waste, state by state, in a simple and affordable way, so that humans may focus attention on eliminating state landfills. 5. Styrofoam: To replace Styrofoam with biodegradable materials in a town in a way that does not compromise the quality of products, so that waste is limited and eco-friendly habits form. 6. Overpopulation: To not increase the population of a city in a way that exposes residents to the destruction, and other effects, of overpopulation on the world through educational means, so that citizens willingly evaluate the risks having large families. Ranked 1. 2. 3. 4. Overpopulation Recycling and composting Styrofoam Water quality I chose my top four project ideas since they could be implemented in a small community, such as a town or city. Water quality directly affects my family since the neighborhood watershed provides unsanitary water. My family installed a filter, but other residents do not have the same luxury. Solving this problem in my small community will provide ideas or solutions for others facing similar situations. Replacing Styrofoam or promoting recycling and composting are both ways to eliminate waste. It may be easier to convince a community to make these smaller changes, rather than switching energy sources, and it may create eco-friendly habits. Overpopulation is my top project idea since it is sensitive, but apparent in our world. It appears a difficult task to undertake, but if tackled in smaller portions, it could be manageable. Completing a project on overpopulation would expose multiple points of view and clarify its complexity.
