Doctors-Aid Medical Aid Scheme is a medical aid scheme which is founded by doctors and
who are also running it. Statistics shows that ONLY 400 000 people in Botswana are covered
by medical aids and 1.6 MILLION is left behind.
Therefore Doctors-Aid is focusing on the 1.6 Million people who are not on medical aid.
Doctors-Aid has developed affordable covers to allow that to happen.
For COMPANIES, therefore, and we are targeting the following:
1. ONLY those employees who are NOT covered under the existing company medical
aid scheme contracts since the 50% or more/less contribution is steep for such
employees (affordable covers explained in the next section below) and in this case a
company can opt to look for a cover that suits both the company and an interested
employee.
2. ONLY those employees who are NOT covered and are interested in joining
independently.
For the GENERAL POPULATION our target is:
1. ONLY those who are not on other medical aid schemes.
Those who are NOT on medical aid are the FOCUS of Doctors-Aid Medical Aid Scheme.
This means companies need not feel Doctors-Aid wants them to abandon their existing
medical aid schemes. We come with a product range that is affordable for company
employees who may not afford the premiums of (and therefore are not members of) their
company’s existing medical aid scheme.
However, those who wish to move to Doctors-Aid from their existing medical aids are
welcome.

This serves as an introduction of Doctors Aid Medical Aid Scheme to your organization. It
also serves as a proposal to be of service to your organization through its variety of medical
aid covers. Doctors-Aid Medical Aid scheme was founded and incorporated in 2010. This
came through the endeavour of medical doctors, many in the private sector, coming
together to augment the costs of health care and increase access to quality health service at
affordable premiums. This led to this medical aid scheme being founded and the doctors
merging their practices with the medical aid, making it the first one of its kind with its own
medical centres. We also have wide acceptance in hospitals in the private sector for service
to our clients.
Obviously there have been challenges to customers in this field:
1. High cost of subscriptions preventing many companies and individuals from getting
coverage
2. Inconsistency in paying service providers leading to them rejecting some clients of
some medical aid covers
Doctors-Aid therefore comes in with several pledges including one of paying service
providers fairly and timely as agreed so they are happy to see our customers. We are
confident to state it has the lowest premiums and yet covers comprehensively the health
needs of our members.
As can be seen from the brochures from both the general brochure for individual cover and
the corporate brochure for the company’s cover, Doctors-Aid has deliberately kept
premiums at the lowest on the market yet with high coverage.

CORPORATE COVER
Under the corporate cover, Doctors aid provides unique service including:
1. Doctor visits to your company site to consult (helps those unable to set time aside
and reduces time off to go see the doctor)
2. Free medical examinations to all company new employees
3. Chronic medication delivery to your company site if unable on occasion to come
collect
Despite good general coverage on general individual cover, the corporate cover has higher
limits of cover and much wider range of allowed medical, surgical and gynaecological cover.
It allows company’s to cover 50% of their monthly subscriptions and the employee covers
the other 50%. However, Doctors-Aid leaves it is at the discretion of the company to cover
more than 50% of their employee’s subscription.
AFFORDABILITY
Doctors-Aid is confident of the affordability of its premiums as the lowest in the market; a
small company under Bronze Cover is only P300 per employee (meaning P150-P150). A
company under Silver Cover P495 per employee and P450 per employee for Gold Cover
(Please refer to the Corporate subscription table for more details).

At Doctors-Aid we do give companies an option to cover their employees under the general
covers which start at P150 (INDIVIDUAL cover) per employee.
BENEFITS
As depicted in the corporate benefit table, the benefits are comprehensive with higher
limits that include hospitalisation, medical, surgical and gynaecological procedures.
By joining your company as members of Doctors-Aid, you will have joined a family of
members who have decided to put their company’s health care under the custodians of
health; doctors.
We have come up with two MAJOR options based on the experience with different
companies and their employees’ NEEDS:
OPTION 1– Corporate Cover
In this option the company opts to share costs with employees and may decide to pay 50%
or more and therefore chooses one of the CORPORATE covers below;
1. Bronze P300/employee (from 20 employees to unlimited number)
2. Silver P495/employee (from 50 employees to 100 employees)
3. Gold P450/employee (from 100 employees and above)
OPTION 2- Corporate Individual Cover
This option is offered to those companies, where based on economics of scale (employee
salaries etc.) choose to pay 100% for their employees and hence no contribution from
employees or if any the employee contribution is very minimal.
This is an affordable cover yet comprehensive.

1. General Practitioner – 2 visits per month to a maximum 15 visits per month
2. Specialists - P3000 limit (max 2x per annum without requirement for Doc-Aid
approval)
3. Physiotherapy- P3000 limit (max 3x per annum without requirement for DocAid approval)
4. Dentistry- P3500 limit (max 1x per annum without requirement for Doc-Aid
approval)
5. Opticals- P600 for eye exams, frames and lenses
6. Acute medication-P1800 per annum
7. Laboratory tests-P2000 limit per annum
8. Hospitalization-P2500 limit per annum
9. Doctor visits and wellness day on site at once a year; we do cholesterol tests,
blood sugar tests for diabetes and measure body mass indexes with appropriate
advices
10. 100% consultation cover (no 10% deposit)
11. We cover the 12% VAT for our clients
MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS FOR NEW EMPLOYEES
Medical examinations are not covered under individual cover. However medical
examinations are charged at

price of P400 (instead of the normal P500) per new employee that includes doctor’s
consultation, chest x-ray, Optical tests and medical report/certificate.
ANNUAL MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS FOR CURRENT EMPLOYEES
Annual medical examinations are not covered under individual cover. However annual
medical examinations are charged at
