Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust wins
the CHKS patient safety award
Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has won the CHKS Top
Hospitals programme patient safety award 2014. The CHKS Top Hospitals awards
celebrate the success of healthcare providers across the UK and are awarded to
acute organisations for their achievements in healthcare quality and improvement.
CHKS used its 25 years of experience in the analysis of hospital data to decide the
indicators on which each of the Top Hospitals programme awards are judged.
Awards are made on the basis of an analysis of publicly available datasets and every
NHS acute trust is included.
The patient safety award recognises outstanding performance in providing a safe
hospital environment for patients and is based on a range of indicators, including
rates of hospital-acquired infections and mortality.
Jason Harries, managing director, CHKS said: “This year we celebrate our 25th
anniversary so it is a fitting occasion to reward excellence in the NHS. Our patient
safety award highlights those trusts that clearly share a commitment to driving
improvement and engendering a culture of excellence throughout their organisations
and it is a credit to the staff at Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
that it has won this award.”
The CHKS Top Hospitals programme awards were held in London on 13th May and
were attended by over 200 guests including leaders from across the healthcare
sector including: NHS England, Monitor, the Trust Development Authority and acute
