DESCRIPTION OF LNYF 2015 EXEC POSITIONS
Note: LNYF Exec Board 2015 is structured into three committees: Communications,
Development and Performance with the following positions available within each committee.
COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
POSITIONS: SECRETARY, PUBLIC RELATIONS CHAIRS (2), ART DIRECTOR, MULTIMEDIA
CHAIR
SECRETARY:

Responsibilities
o Write and send out meeting notes (attendance at ALL meetings required)
o Maintain a visual library of photographs and videos for website and LNYF DVD
o Reserve meeting spaces for all meetings
o Work closely with coordinators to maintain organized and on-track calendar
o Design and maintain the LNYF website
o Update the website and LNYF Facebook Page on a regular basis
Skills
o Strong organization and note taking
o Website development experience is highly preferred
PUBLIC RELATIONS CHAIRS (2)

Internal PR Responsibilities
o Ensure adequate PR flow to Washington University community through
o Online media (e.g. Facebook)
o Campus Resources (e.g. DUC TV, Underpass, student planner )
o Communication and/or collaboration with other campus organizations
o Prints and organizes distribution of fliers, posters, banners and other sources of print media
External PR Responsibilities
o Provides outreach and communication with St. Louis community, as well as graduate community
at Washington University
o Implements and maintains the Family Group system among performers
o Contacts Stud Life, St. Louis newspapers, and other media outlets and press opportunities
o Plans events to promote LNYF and cultural awareness off campus
o Reserves venues for off-campus events (multilingual and a car is a plus)
Skills
o Strong marketing/public relations skills/understanding
o Poster/Flier and/or Writing Samples are highly recommended
ART DIRECTOR

Responsibilities
o Design marketing campaign for LNYF 2015, including fliers, posters, banners, underpass wall, tshirts, program covers and contents, and other related material
o Work closely with public relations, as well as philanthropy chair in designing and distributing
promotional material
MULTIMEDIA CHAIR

Responsibilities
o Making videos for all major events
o Oversee music selection for all performances and compiles edited music selections
o Responsible for obtaining and returning all instruments and other technical music equipment
o Attend ALL full cast rehearsals and performances
Skills
o Experience with audio mixing and video editing software
DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
POSITIONS: PHILANTHROPY CHAIR, FUNDRAISING CHAIR, CORPORATE RELATIONS CHAIR

PHILANTHROPY CHAIR

Responsibilities
o Write donation requests to deans and academic departments
o Act as a liaison between LNYF and philanthropy
o Provide information about the philanthropy to LNYF members and the greater Washington
University Community

o Ability to passionately convey the philanthropy’s goals
FUNDRAISING CHAIR

Responsibilities
o Plans fundraising events such as food sales on campus and benefit nights at local restaurants
o Work closely with public relations to coordinate promotion of events
o Make reservations and manages money raised for fundraising events

o Strong communication skills
o Ability to design creative fundraising plans
CORPORATE RELATIONS CHAIR (2)

Responsibilities
o Represent LNYF for all of the businesses that are contacted for donations and sales
o Secure corporate sponsors in the form of monetary and in-kind donations from area and national
businesses
o Work closely with philanthropy chair to ensure adequate fundraising and meet fundraising goals
Skills
o Strong communication and networking skills
o Ability to build rapport with small, medium and large businesses
o Fluency in more than one language is a plus
PERFORMANCE COMMITTEE
POSITIONS: CHOREOGRAPHY CHAIR (2) TECHNICAL CHAIR, COSTUME CHAIR

Responsibilities
o Organize choreographer interviews and select list of choreographers and respective performances
o Monitor and oversee progress of all performances, from auditions to rehearsals to final show
o Maintain close and frequent communication with all choreographers through meetings and email
chains
o Liaise between Exec Board, choreographers and all performance participants
Skills
o Previous dance experience required
o Previous choreographer experience recommended, but not necessary
TECHNICAL CHAIR

Responsibilities
o Recruit and train a Stage Manager for the show
o Establish Stage Crew for the show
o Establish team to design sets for performance and skits
o Attend ALL full cast rehearsals
o Establish a contract with WUTV and other related organizations for filming and lighting of the
show

o Previous theater experience valuable but not necessary
COSTUME CHAIR

Responsibilities
o Find all costumes for skit and performances
o Maintain good conditions and inventory of all costumes
o Act as liaison in communication between manufacturers and choreographers
o Must relay choreographer budgets to the Treasurer in order to draft the budget
o Coordinate LNYF Fashion Show
