Australian War Memorial Summer Vacation Scholarships 2016 The Australian War Memorial provides one or more Summer Vacation Scholarships for history students in their third or fourth year of an undergraduate course, or who are undertaking early-stage postgraduate studies. The scholarships are also open to students enrolled in museum or public history courses. Each scholar is allocated a significant project relevant to the Memorial’s research interests. At the end of their time, scholars submit a report on their project and give a short presentation to staff and interested others. Scholars are paid an honorarium of $420 per week for the duration of the scholarship (provided they are not in receipt of a regular, full-time income) and supplied with accommodation. A return fare between a scholarship holder’s home and Canberra is also included. The scholarships are tenable between 11 January and 19 February 2016. Note that the application process involves writing an essay of 500 words on the topic set in question 13. Assessors will be looking for originality of thought and clarity of expression.
