Providing prestigious scholarships for high achieving South Australians 2016 St Ann’s College/Playford Trust Residential Scholarship Outline: Working with government, the tertiary sector, industry and the community the Playford Trust provides a range of scholarships for high achieving South Australian students to develop the research and skills base required to advance areas of strategic importance for the state of South Australia. The Playford Trust in collaboration with St Ann’s College is offering one residential scholarship in 2016 to a student commencing their residency at St Ann’s. This scholarship is directed to promising students intending to study science, engineering, mathematics or technology subjects at one of the three South Australian universities, and have to overcome the practical and financial disadvantages associated with having their home base located in regional South Australia. The successful recipient will receive accommodation at St Ann’s College to the value of $7,000. Eligibility Criteria: 1. Students are enrolled at St Ann’s and will commence an undergraduate degree at one of the South Australian universities in 2016 in the following priority areas for the Trust: Agriculture and Food Production Water, Energy and Climate Change Advanced Manufacturing and New Technologies Mining and Resources Development. 2. Students are South Australian residents who have their family base in regional South Australia. 3. Students must show potential for high achievement, with an excellent secondary school academic record. Allowance can be made for practical and other disadvantages due to remoteness from Adelaide. 4. Students are of good character with preference given to students that display leadership potential. Nomination and Selection Process The Playford Trust calls for nominations from applicants recommended by St Ann's College who are enrolled at the College, with St Ann’s recommending the highest calibre students through an internal process that takes account of the selection criteria. The Trust reserves the right to accept or reject any or all of the nominations if it considers the nominees do not reflect the objectives of the Trust or do not meet the high standards consistent with the status of this award.
