There are many positives about using on line technology but how do you
keep your child safe? Below are links to many sources for further
information and advice.
1. Are your family internet safe? Do you know where to go for help and advice visit:

2. Do you know how to report online child sexual abuse content? The Internet Watch
Foundation (IWF) is the UK Safer Internet Centre's Hotline for reporting

3. Did you know you can set up age appropriate parental controls on your children’s devices?
If you don’t know how, contact your internet service provider for details.
4. Do you know what your child is up to when they are online or what apps they are using –

6. How many hours a day do you think is acceptable for your child to be on devices? This is

8. How many friends do your young people have on their social networking sites? Do they
really know them all? Keep talking to them about who they communicate with. On line
‘groomers’ can try to connect with children of all ages.
9. What is your child’s favourite app or website , how much do you know about it and have
you explored this with your child?
10. Many schools will be focusing on Internet Safety this week – ask your child what they have
learnt about this at school. Have your seen your school’s E safety policy?

12. Is your child a victim of cyber bullying? Would your child know what to do if they were? To

13. How much do you know about preventing extremism? The Government has just launched
‘Educate against hate’. There is a section specifically for parents including advice about
recognising the warning signs of radicalisation and what you can do to protect your child

16. What do you know about selfies, sexting and online reputation? Remember to advise your
