Fifth Sunday in Lent
(Congregation may be invited to be seated for prayer.)
With the prayer “Hear us O God” you are invited to respond
YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
1. Returning daily to the Lord, our God, let us pray for the church, the world and all of God’s creation.
A brief moment of silence and reflection
2. Pour out your Spirit upon the members of your church that they would have the will to bring new life to dry
bones. May that spirit touch the neighboring communities of faith and our partner Anglican Church of Canada,
and may it inspire all congregations in the BC Synod, particularly we pray for the Church of St Paul (shared
ministry) in Barriere and their pastor, Brian Krushel; and for Christ Lutheran Church in Terrace and those
providing Christian ministry in that congregation and community. May all communities of faith gain strength
from our Lord’s promise to the church.
Hear us, O God: YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
3. Help us to be diligent in protecting the health of our mind, body and soul. In our care for our body, mind and
spirit inspire us to honor the gift of all artists, musicians, poets, needle workers, painters, potters and sculptors.
Hear us, O God: YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
4. Unbind all nations, peoples, and tribes from the bondage of greed, hatred and violence. Even in our midst, may
there be new people who heed your call to be workers in your kingdom.
Hear us, O God: YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
5. Stir up your power on all those who wait upon you for healing, for comfort, for strength and for hope. We pray in
particularly for those we name aloud or quietly at this time….
May our words and our lives in this coming week reflect the mystery of your uplifting presence.
Hear us, O God: YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
6. God, you are the giver of all the gifts we have known in our church and in our community;
- we thank you for the your promise of life even when we or our loved ones face death;
- we thank you for when you surprise us with daily new life;
- we thank you for those celebrating significant events in their lives;
- for those who have known the gift of another birthday, another anniversary, or the
gift of new life;
- finally, we thank you for those special blessings we name at this time….
Help us to recognize your empower presence in our daily life and personal ministry.
Hear us, O God: YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
7. May we and our leaders seek to protect the life and the health of all creation--animals, plants, lands and water.
Hear us, O God: YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
8. We give you thanks for all the saints who have been lifted up to live with you in light eternal. We thank you for
the memories of those who have blessed us in this life.
Hear us, O God: YOUR MERCY IS GREAT.
9. Into your hands, O God, we commend ourselves and all for whom we pray, trusting in your abundant mercy,
through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. AMEN
Ezekiel 37:1-14
37The hand of the LORD came upon me, and he brought me out by the spirit of the LORD and set me down in
the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. 2He led me all round them; there were very many lying in the valley,
and they were very dry. 3He said to me, ‘Mortal, can these bones live?’ I answered, ‘O Lord GOD, you know.’

Then he said to me, ‘Prophesy to these bones, and say to them: O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 5Thus
says the Lord GOD to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. 6I will lay sinews on you,
and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and
you shall know that I am the LORD.’ ‘’’
11 Then he said to me, ‘Mortal, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They say, “Our bones are dried up,
and our hope is lost; we are cut off completely.” 12Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord
GOD: I am going to open your graves, and bring you up from your graves, O my people; and I will bring you
back to the land of Israel. 13And you shall know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves, and bring you up
from your graves, O my people. 14I will put my spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you on
your own soil; then you shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken and will act, says the LORD.’
