Greetings 3rd Grade Teachers!
We hope your year is off to a great start. You recently received an email stating that directions
for the DLD make-up would be coming your way soon. We now have all the information you
need to successfully complete the 3rd grade DLD make-up. We believe it is vital that you have
the opportunity to catch-up on the content within the DLD make-up series, and practice
implementation before the September 18 DLD. We hope that our series of videos will enable
you to review the content at your own pace independently, and begin implement the things
you learn immediately.
Below you will find instructions to complete the make-up work for each session. Each session
requires viewing of video and the accompanying materials. Upon viewing the videos, you will
complete a brief survey. We expect that you will view the materials and complete the surveys
below by Friday, September 4. We will verify your “attendance” in MLP after you have
submitted your survey responses.

Directions for the video of the live session
1. Watch the video of the session titled CCR Standards and Close Reading / 5th grade . Pull
up the PPT presentation titled AUG DLD ELA 3-5 CCR Standards and Close Reading 07272015
to follow along as you view the video.
2. Stop on slide 7 and unpack a standard, as directed on the video, using the handout
“Unpacking a Standard.”
3. Continue the video until slide 12. Stop and track a standard, using the handout “Tracking a
Standard.”
4. Continue the video until slide 20. Stop and briefly review the curriculum map, as indicated
on the slide.
5. Skip the section of the video where the close reading of Horses is modeled; you will have a
different example to watch.
6. Finish watching this video.
