Humpty Dumpty

To make this song card, cut out the picture of Humpty Dumpty below and laminate. Laminate the page with the wall as well. Velcro Humpty to the top of the wall. If you wish to use more pictures as visual cues, you use the pictures of the king’s horses and men trying to put Humpty back together!

Process: You can chant the poem with a steady beat until you get to the word “fall,” where you can make your voice slide slowly from a high pitch to a low pitch (this is called a “glissando!”). This is also where the child can manipulate Humpty to make him fall off the wall, reinforcing the downward vocal part. You can resume the steady beat for the rest, but slower is better since the last two lines of this nursery rhyme are very wordy for Pre-K children!

Suggested dramatization from Moving Minds: One child is Humpty

Dumpty, stands on a raised surface and jumps to the floor on “fall.” On last 2 lines, other children gallop toward Humpty.

Humpty Dumpty

In Spanish!

Humpty Dumpty

Sentado en un muro.

Humpty Dumpty

Se ha caído muy duro.

Todos los caballeros

Y jinetes del rey,

Fueron a levantarlo

Y no pudieron con él.
