1) The length and breadth of a rectangular solid are 25cm and 20 cm respectively. If
the volume is 7000 cm3, find its height.
2) A closed rectangular box has inner dimensions 90cm by 80 cm by 70 cm.
Calculate its capacity and the area of tin-foil needed to line its inner surface.
3) A cube of metal of 6 cm edge is melted and cast into a cuboid whose base is 9 cm
by 8 cm. find the height of the cuboid.
4) The area of a playground is 4800 m2. Find the cost of covering it with gravel
1 cm deep, if the gravel costs Rs 260 per cubic metre.
5) The inner dimensions of a closed wooden box are 2m, 1.2 m and 0.75m. The
thickness of the wood is 2.5 cm. Find the cost of wood required to make the box if
1 m 3 of wood costs Rs 5400.
6) The area of cross section of a pipe is 3.5 cm2 and water is flowing out of the pipe
at the rate of 40 cm/s. How much water is delivered by the pipe in one minute?
7) Two cubes each with 12 cm edge are joined end to end. Find the surface area of
the resulting cuboid.
8) Find the total surface area of a solid cylinder of radius 5 cm and height 10 cm.
9) An electric geyser is cylindrical in shape having a diameter of 35 cm and height 1.2m.
Neglecting the thickness of its walls, calculate its i) outer surface area and
ii) its capacity in litres.
10) A wooden pole is 7 m high and 20 cm in diameter. Find its weight if the wood
weighs 225 kg per m3.
11) A well with inner diameter 6m is dug 22 m deep. Find the volume of soil removed.
12) The diameter of a cylinder is 7 cm and its height is 16 cm. Find
area
ii) volume of the cylinder and
i) curved surface
iii) total surface area of the cylinder
