Dodge Pre K, North Dodge Elementary, and South Dodge Elementary Schools are slated to implement the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for FREE student meals in School Year
2015/2016.
The Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 includes the implementation of CEP to ensure that every student in low-income neighborhoods and/or districts can participate in the National
School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. To qualify, a school must have 40 percent or more of its students eligible for free meals based on direct certification, not local applications.
Studies have shown that children who consume breakfast and lunch perform better in school.
By providing FREE meals to all Pre K and Elementary children, we are hoping to create a better learning environment for our students. This program cannot succeed and sustain long-term without your support, please encourage your children to participate in the school breakfast and lunch program.
Meal prices will remain the same at Dodge County Middle School and Dodge County High
School; Breakfast $0.60 and Lunch $1.72.
*** Important Notice *** Free and Reduced Meal Applications will still be required for all
Dodge County Middle School and Dodge County High School students. In order for the application to be processed accurately and to insure your child gets the maximum benefits, please include ALL household members on the application including Pre K and Elementary students. Middle and High School students who were eligible in school year 2014/2015 will continue to be served reduced or free meals for the first 30 days of school; however, please
note that a new application form must be completed each year. Students may not receive free and reduced benefits if an approved application for the 2014/2015 school year is not on file. Please note that free and reduced meal benefits begin the day the application is processed. Only one application per household is required.
We will continue to use the My School Bucks online student account system, which allows parents the ease and convenience of managing their child’s meal account from home. This system allows parents to make payments and monitor their child’s account activity via the internet. To set-up an online account for your child simply go to MySchoolBucks.com and set up a password to access your child’s account and this will allow access 24 hours a day.
Meal payments should be made in advance as no meal charges will be allowed at any school.
Advance payments can be made weekly, monthly, or even yearly. Advance payments are risk free as all funds will follow the student throughout the Dodge County School System year after year. Checks are encouraged. This provides parents assurance that the money is in the students account for the meals.
We are looking forward to providing your child with nutritious meals in a professional and pleasant environment. If you have any questions or concerns at any time about your child’s meal account, free/reduced eligibility, CEP, or any other issues concerning the School Nutrition
Program please contact Dena Barrows, School Nutrition Program Director at 478-374-6491 or dbarrows@dodge.k12.ga.us.
