in its commitments to ECB Club Mark and Hampshire Cricket Board Focus Club
recognition.
5. Age Group Selection Ethos
Ropley junior section supports both league and cup representation for u9s through to
u19s.
“This year’s management and coaching staff are dedicated in delivering a fair and
transparent training and selection process that reflects the ethos of fun, fair play, team spirit
and competitiveness.
We will endeavour to ensure that players who attend training sessions (notwithstanding
those who cannot attend due to school commitments) are all given consideration for team
selection.
Selection will be worked on a balance of picking a strong team and inclusion for all squad
members. This will mean that squad rotation will be utilised in league matches if there is a
surge in availability.
We will study form and player contribution both during matches and training and will work to
ensure that individuals, when selected to play, feel included and part of the team. Coaches
will counsel players in decisions made, this will include tactical thought process and players
are positively encouraged to ask questions, if clarification is required.
The coaches will actively maintain two way communication with players during training and
matches balancing the individual’s competence, mind-set, ability and personal expectations
against the needs of the team”.
