Mr. Dallas Lesson Plan for the Week of February 2-6 Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Objectives SWBAT: Investigate and describe applications of newton’s law of inertia, law of force and acceleration, and law of action reaction such as in vehicle restraints, sports activities, amusement park rides, Earth’s tectonic activities and rocket launches Relate plate tectonics to the formation of crustal features SWBAT: Investigate and describe applications of newton’s law of inertia, law of force and acceleration, and law of action reaction such as in vehicle restraints, sports activities, amusement park rides, Earth’s tectonic activities and rocket launches Relate plate tectonics to the formation of crustal features SWBAT: Investigate and describe applications of newton’s law of inertia, law of force and acceleration, and law of action reaction such as in vehicle restraints, sports activities, amusement park rides, Earth’s tectonic activities and rocket launches Relate plate tectonics to the formation of crustal features SWBAT: Interpret topographic maps and satellite views to identify land and erosional features and predict how these features may be reshaped by weathering. SWBAT: Interpret topographic maps and satellite views to identify land and erosional features and predict how these features may be reshaped by weathering. P ENGAGE: Ask students the question what do you think causes earthquakes? ENGAGE: Show students a short video on earthquakes Evaluate: ENGAGE: Ask the question how can maps represent Earth’s surface? LA EXPLORE: Students do lab stations over convergent boundaries and Subduction boundaries. EXPLAIN: Teacher Demo Station. Teacher has a lab station that EXPLORE: Students do lab stations over divergent and transform boundaries. EXPLAIN: Teacher Demo Station. Teacher has a lab station that demonstrates Students will be handed two sheets. And answer sheet and a map with numbers on it. Students will choose the correct number for the answer listed on the answer sheet. EXPLORE: Give students two different maps and have them use a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the maps. EXPLAIN: Have students discuss in their ENGAGE: Ask the students how can the images on a topographic map help a person traveling? EXPLORE: Give students a topographic map. Have them examine the map and identify land and erosional features. EXPLAIN: Have a short power point over Page 1 of 2 Mr. Dallas Lesson Plan for the Week of February 2-6 Monday N Resources Tuesday demonstrates the earths crust. Some of the groups come this day. Teacher asks several questions throughout the demo. ELABORATE: Discuss with the students about the lab stations for this day. And talk about convergent plate boundaries. ELABORATE: Discuss with the students about the lab stations for this day. Talk about divergent and transform plate boundaries. EVALUATE/ASSESS: Lab sheet filled out on the part of the lab that they completed that day Discussion over plate tectonics. EVALUATE/ASSESS: Lab sheet filled out on the part of the lab that they completed that day Discussion over plate tectonics Plate tectonic stations Interactive notebook Wednesday the earths crust. Some of the groups come this day. Teacher asks several questions throughout the demo. Plate tectonic stations Interactive notebook When students are done with the test they will get their books out and read over topographic maps. Test over Plate Tectonics Thursday Friday groups about what these maps show about the Earth. ELABORATE: Teacher talks to students about the maps and how the images on the map represent different things in real life. topographic maps and what is important on them and what the symbols mean. ELABORATE: On a separate sheet of paper have the students copy the description of the features on the maps. Then have the students and then have the students add an explanation of how the map features model the aspects of the natural world and how they could have been made. EVALUATE/ASSESS: Have students turn in the explanation about the topographic map. Discussion over topographic maps Topographic map Power point over topographic maps EVALUATE/ASSESS: Students write a short paper over how they think maps help out the world.
