Dear parents/ guardians of students in G7 to G10
The Explorer project for high able or/ and high achiever students at RISS will start in October 2013. Explorer project is an academic enrichment programme that aims to expose students to various academic areas. The programme provides opportunities designed to broaden and extend the learning process.
Learning will be enhanced by, tasks, and experiences differentiated in content, process, and products.
The enrichment programme will be offered in various fields such as: Medicine,
Physics, Astronomy, Corporate Communication, Law, Mathematics, and
Psychology. Students will also need to work on a Personal Explorer Project.
We would like to welcome interested and motivated students from G7- G10 to participate in this unique project as an after school programme on Thursdays.
We will also approach teachers and ask them to nominate students who might benefit from this programme. The final decision on which students can participate will be based on nominations by teachers and a personal interview with Yarona .
There will be 2 groups:
Group 1: Grade 9 and Grade 10. The programme will start on Thursday 17th
October and will end on Thursday 20th March 2014. Time: 14:15- 15:45hr at classroom 218.
Group 2: Grade 7 and Grade 8. The programme will start on Thursday 27th
March and will end on Thursday 26 th June 2014. Time: 14:15- 15:45hr at classroom 218 .
Participation in the Explorer Project is free of charge. However, once signed up, we expect the students to continue their participation during the whole programme.
Please discuss this opportunity with your son/daughter.
You are asked to send e-mail with your child’s details to indicate his/her intention to attend this programme. Please add a short motivation letter for participating in the programme.
We will take your e-mail as parental permission and agreement that your child
may participate in Explorer project. Please realize that your nomination alone

doesn’t mean your son/ daughter will participate in Explorer project. They will be considered as possible candidates.

We would like to receive your email regarding Grade 9 and Grade 10 students latest by Thursday 26 th September. You will receive a confirmation email if your child will participate in Explorer programme on Thursday 10 th October.
We would like to receive your email regarding Grade 7 and Grade 8 students latest by Thursday 16 th January 2014. You will receive a confirmation email if your child will participate in Explorer programme on Monday 10 th February
2014.
