Worshop Descriptions
Ask the Dental Hygienist
The Dental Hygienist will provide information on how to access dental treatment without
dental insurance. Information for parents on how to keep the child's teeth clean. A free dental
screening for the child is available.
Building Routines for Your Child
(0 to 12 months)
Attachment is the deep emotional bond that develops between you and your child during the
first year of life. Having a strong attachment with your child makes your child feel safe, secure
and loved
Car Seat Safety
(0 to 12 months)
Join the Child Safety Public Health Nurse for an information session on how to
transport your child safely
Comfort, Play and Teach
Comfort, Play & Teach is a multi-session program that builds parenting confidence,
strengthens the parent-child bond, enriches the moment for the child and parent and
ultimately opens a world of possibilities for you both.
(Interactive 20 months to 3 years)
Feeding Baby
(0 to 12 months)
Learn how to feed your baby during the first year. A Public Health Dietitian will teach you
what, when and how to introduce new foods as well as guide you through a fun and
interactive making baby food session where you will use a variety of tools to make homemade
baby food.
Helping Your Child Learn to Sleep
Well
(0 to 12 months)
Many parents struggle with their child’s sleep. You can help your child learn good sleeping
habits that will help them sleep well throughout their lives.
Have a Ball
(Interactive 2 to 6 years)
A multi-session active program for parents/caregivers and their children (2-6 years) focusing
on songs, stories and activities that enhance children’s gross motor skills.
I’m Scared of the Doctor… and the
Dentist too
Help your child overcome their fear of dentists, doctors, needles and medical appointments.
Parent will gain a better understanding of how to prepare and educate children for doctor,
dentist and hospital visits. Coping strategies and practical steps will be taught
Infant Massage
(Interactive Newborn to
pre-crawler)
The certified Infant Massage Instructor will facilitate this five week program that is designed to
teach parents and caregivers of infants (pre-crawling) a warm nurturing, bonding experience
through touch.
Loving vs Spoiling
(0 to 12 months
This workshop is for parents and caregivers of children 2 years and younger. Come learn
about what love is, what is spoiling and positive behavior management for toddlers.

An interactive, research based multi-week program for parents and their children focusing on
the pleasure and power of rhymes, songs and stories together.
Take Time to Care for Yourself
(0 to 12 months)
When caring for your child, you can sometimes feel overwhelmed, frustrated or helpless.
Often you forget to take the time to care for yourself. Join a Public Health Nurse as she
discusses why caring for yourself is important for you and your child and how to include
strategies to care for yourself in your day
