Chatman, David Davis, Kimberly Martin, Jacqueline Abstain Resolution #1 - Bylaw Amendment: Amended - Delegates Remain Elected; Special Meetings The Bylaws of Centers for Spiritual Living currently provide that on the occasion of a Special Meeting of the Membership, Member Communities has thirty (30) days after notice to send new delegate lists to the Organization identifying delegates eligible to vote at such Special Meeting. This resolution would amend the Bylaws to provide (a) that delegates selected by each Member Community to act as voting delegates at the Annual Meeting would remain as delegates eligible to vote at any subsequent Special Meeting, until the next Annual Meeting, and (b) that Special Meeting(s) may be conducted virtually or by other electronic means, and in that event the voting delegates may also vote virtually or by other electronic means. In Favor Opposed Abstain Resolution #2 - Bylaw Amendment, ODM Amendment: Amended - Minister Candidates for the Leadership Council Need Not be Ordained The Bylaws and ODM of Centers for Spiritual Living currently provide that in order to be eligible to run for election as a Minister Member of the Leadership Council, a prospective candidate must be an ordained Minister. The requirement of ordination was added to the Bylaws and ODM at the 2014 Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida, in a resolution which also added the ordination requirement for candidates for election as Members of the Minister Council. The Leadership Council has determined that it would be desirable to delete the requirement of ordination for candidates running for election as a Minister Member of the Leadership Council, because the requirement unreasonably restricts the pool of available candidates who may have unique or special skills to contribute to the Council and are willing to serve, but who may not yet be ordained. The requirement of ordination for candidates for election as Members of the Minister Council, as added by the Bylaws and ODM at the 2014 Annual Convention, would remain unchanged. In Favor Opposed Abstain Resolution #3 - ODM Amendment: Amended - Nominating Council The ODM of Centers for Spiritual Living currently provides that the Nominating Council be comprised of two distinct committees, a Candidate Search Committee and a Qualifications Committee, each consisting of five (5) members. The Chair of the Nominating Council has suggested, and the Leadership Council has agreed, that maintaining these two distinct committees is ineficient and unwieldy, and that the Organization would be more effectiovely operated by combining these two distinct committees into one unified committee. These resolution would amend the ODM to provide that the Nominating Council be operated through one unified committee, led by the Chair of the Nominating Council, which would discharge both candidate search and qualifications functions. In Favor Opposed Abstain Resolution #4 - ODM Amendment: Amended - World Ministry of Prayer Peporting AS originally written, the ODM of Centers for Spiritual Living provided that the World Ministry of Prayer reported to the Director of Member Support and Education. Thereafter, at the 2014 Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida, the ODM was amended to provide that the World Ministry of Prayer reported to the Office of the Spiritual Leader. Having made that change, the Spiritual Leader and the Leadership Council have now determined that the World Ministry of Prayer should more appropriatelty report to the Director of Member Support and Education, and the Leadership Council is proposing this resolution renumbering sections of the ODM to reflect the change in reporting back from the Office of Spiritual Leader to the Director of Member Suypport and Education. In Favor Opposed Abstain Resolution #5 - ODM Amendment: Amended - Renaming Laity Council to Member Council The ODM of Certers for Spiritual Living created the "Laity Council," which is a Council consisting of Members of our Centers who are neither Practitioners nor Ministers that is dedicated to fostering communication and dialogue, promoting participation and engagement, and acting as an advocate on behalf of "lay members." The elected Members of the "Laity Council" have suggested that continued use of the owrd "laity" to describe this Council is antiquated, and that this Council should more appropriately be referred to as the "Member Council." You may select one of the following options. In Favor Opposed Abstain Resolution #6 - ODM Amendment: Amended - Recognition of Virtual Communities The ODM of Centers for Spiritual Living currently identifies "special" focus ministries as a category of Member Communities of the Organization, without any further description in the ODM or other foundational documents. This resolution would amend the ODM to simply refer to these ministries as "focus ministries," as is presently done in the Policies & Procedures Manual. The Leadership Council has also determined that it would be beneficial to recognize a new classification of Member Community, to recognize "virtual ministries' as a new category of member affiliation for exclusively online ministries whee the ministry is conducted using technology as their primary way for serving constituents. This resolution would amend the ODM to authorize the recognition of "virtual ministries" as a new category of member affiliation. You may select one of the following options. Opposed In favor Abstain Resolution #7 - ODM Amendment: Amended - Practitioner Must be Licensed Through a Member Community to be Eligible to Run for Elective Office The ODM of Centers for Spiritual Living do not currently require that a practitioner be currently affiliated with a Member Community in order to be eligible to run for an elected position in the Organization. This resolution would require that a practitioner be currently affiliated with a Member Community in order to be eligible to run for an elected position in the Organization. This resolution would also delete references to ICSL and UCSL. You may select one of the following options. In Favor Opposed Abstain Resolution #8 - ODM Amendment: Amended - Elimination of "Leadership Teams" The ODM of Centers for Spiritual Living currently provides that the nine at-large members of the Leadership Council be divided into three "Leadership Teams," each of which is intended to "focus on the specific activities of Operations, Communications, or Member Support and Education." By the terms of the ODM, these "Leadership Teams" are to meet on an "ongoing basis," to work together in shared leadership to review and supervise the activities of each department, and to report back to the Leadership Council as appropriate. The Leadership Council has determined, however, that while the concept, spirit, and intent of the "Leadership Teams" was quite laudable expecially as it promoted shared leadership, in actual prcatice the meetings of the "Leadership Teams' have been largely ineffectual, an inefficient use of time, and of limited, if any value in movin the Organization forward. On the other hand, in the first years of the Organization, the Leadership Council has effectively and efficiently used ad hoc committees on several occasions that have had greater value in moving the Organization forward. This resolution would eliminate the ODM provisions which establish the "Leadership Teams." You may select one of the following options. In Favor Opposed Abstain Resolution #9 - Bylaw Amendment: ODM Amendment; P&P Manual Amendment Amended - Executive Alignment Since it was first seated in February, 2012, the Leadership Council of Centers for Spiritual Living has been operating based on the governing and operational structures of the organization, as envisioned in the original ODM, Bylaws and Policies & Procedures Manual. While certainly refined over many years through the integration process, the Leadership Council quickly recognized that the original organizational design had not yet been "field tested," and as the new organization began operations several structural "issues" soon became apparent. The existing leadership structure has many benefits; however, it also presents several serioius problems. For example, the financial impact of a structure with five executive level employees is not sustainable for an organization of our size. In addition, the ideals envisioned in the original documents do not provide clear and concrete reporting relationships that support accountability between the staff and the governing body. After making a variety of adjustments and trying several temporary measures during 2012 and 2013, it became evident to the Leadership Council that significant changes to the actual governing and operational structure would be required. Therefore, in February 2014, the Leadership Council formed an "Executive Alignment" team which was assigned the task of reviewing options, researching best practices and guiding a process that would lead to the recommendations the Leadership Council would present to the organization. This team met weekly and reported monthly to the Leadership Council The Leadership Council is committed to operating Centers for Spiritual Living in a financially responsible manner that ensures accountability and financial health and prosperity as governing values. The original organizational design has now been "field tested" for three years and the Leadership Council has found that the changes proposed by this resolution are required to ensure the financial and organizational efficiency and sustainability of Centers for Spiritual Living. The ODM states that ours "is a living breathing design, open to further interpretation and refinement based upon both the unfolding vision of the Organization, and consensus-building discussions within the leadership and community as a whole." It is in this spirit that this resolution is proposed. You may select one of the following options. In Favor Opposed Abstain Submit Submit
