Billie Jean Watkins (Thelma’s daughter from her first marriage).
Standing below - left to right:
Jeannie Bergquist ? (8 - 1935 - Viola’s adopted daughter from Pearl, not sure about her identity),

Dear Deserie
I have a copy of the 1st picture you emailed and thought I had written down the names on the picture, but I
did not; however, I think I know who the people are...
My assumption is that this picture was taken in first part of 1943.
Roy entered the service in 1941 and married in Oct 1943.
another assumption is that he went home to visit during that period of time prior to his marriage.................
Left to right adults Roy Watkins - Emma - Cleo? - Haskell - My mother is in front of Haskell and my sister Billie Jean is to the right
of mother.
My older brother Valton Lee is standing in front of my mother, Thelma Watkins. My mother is not pregnant in
this picture (?) and I was born in May 1944 and I don't think Roy would have come home after he married
right away. Just assumptions.....
I believe that Cleo is holding Charles, Emma is holding Barbara and standing in front of Leroy is either Jeannie
or Betty Jo, but my guess it would be Jeannie due to the darker hair as Betty Jo had blonde hair after her
mother Pearl.
My brother Valton does not look older than 5 or 6 in this picture. My parents came back from working in Las
Vegas in August 1941 and my brother began 1st grade at the age of 5 as he did not turn 6 until March of 1942.
I have a small picture of him and my husband Bill standing in front of the elementary school in Iowa Park and
he is wearing a 1 piece jean outfit similar to the one in the picture.
The 3 smallest children I'm not sure of, but Cleo was living in Oklahoma during those years and Barbara and
Charles were just about 1 year apart and it appears the baby is not walking yet, but Barbara is wearing
walking shoes. You might double check the 1940 census record for Berquist/Viola to see where they were
living in 1940. I have the data but not the place where they lived in 1940.... If you come up with something
different please let me know so I can label my picture with names.
Thanks for sending the pictures. I know Carl has a lot of old photos I don't have as my family did not have a
camera until my older brother bought and gave me one, then I began taking lots of pictures.....
