Reading Achievement Center 2014/2015 Opportunities Making Text-Sets Workshop (no cost) 3rd – 5th ELA teachers A day making multi-media text-sets with expert feedback and ideas Dates: 2014 – June 23 The K-3 Reading Apprenticeship Model - 12 days - $3,700 per participant • An initial week of intensive, comprehensive training in reading history, pedagogy, theory, • • • • research, and proven instructional practice One follow-up training per month to build depth and breadth of professional knowledge All materials (including student materials and professional resources) Technical assistance and corrective feedback Administrators may attend any or all sessions at no cost Dates: 2014 - Sept. 29 – Oct. 3 Nov. 18 Dec. 12 2015 -Jan. 15 Feb. 24 April 4 May 15 Cultivating Comprehension I or II – 4 days in each series - $600 per participant/per series 3rd – 7th grade ELA teachers Cultivating Comprehension I focuses exclusively on reading comprehension. The content is directly aligned with the PAC standards and state test expectations. o o All materials are included Administrators may attend any or all sessions at no cost Dates: 2014 – Oct. 21, Nov.19 2015 – March 16, May 12 Cultivating Comprehension II is for those who have completed Cultivating Comprehension I. The series features lesson design with research-based instructional practices that are aligned to the PAC standards and district curriculum. o All materials are included o Administrators may attend any or all sessions at no cost Dates: 2014 – Oct. 10, Nov. 5 2015 – Jan. 7, March 6 English Language Arts (ELA) Network – 2 days (no cost) Select representatives will be provided with information regarding the new PA Core standards along with samples of instruction that will meet the new rigorous expectations.
