Take a walk through the Peace Path (behind the church) and spend a few minutes experiencing the beauty of nature and the many symbols of faith, life and harmony. Many children and adults have worked hard to prepare the peace path for our reflection and celebration of the meaning of Christmas. The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary & Joseph PREPARE A PLACE FOR HIM Will you prepare a place for him? He promises to prepare a place for you one day! At the celebration of Christmas may we prepare a place for Jesus Christ to come into our lives. As the world did not prepare a place for him, so it would be animals and shepherds that did. They recognized him. Do you? They saw the face of God in this baby. Do you see the face of God in other people? If you do, then what will you do? How will you live differently, love more tenderly, forgive more readily and show mercy with kindness? Jesus will not be born again in a manger but he will be born again in the hearts of those who are willing to let him in. Wishing you and yours, a most Blessed and Merry Christmas as we prepare a place for him by our love, as parishioners and friends at Sacred Heart parish. May Christ dwell in your heart and in your home. May we and all creatures, great and small who share this planet as our common home, celebrate God's love for the whole world. Year of Mercy...What is this ‘Holy Door’ that is in the news? It is, frankly simply a door, but one that is rich in symbolism. Jesus is the Door! Jesus told us that He is the door through which we enter the pasture of the Good Shephard. Passing through a Holy Door is a gesture of leaving the past behind and crossing the threshold from sin to grace, from slavery to freedom, from darkness to light. During the Year of Mercy, we are encouraged to make a pilgrimage to cross the Holy Door at our Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany, or at one of the other sites that have designated Holy Doors, which are Church of St. Peter in Saratoga Springs, Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville, St. Stanislaus Church in Amsterdam, Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham, and the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm/St. Teresa’s Motherhouse in Germantown. Happy 50th Anniversary Marcy & Jerry Devoe!
