A. PROPOSED SYSTEM
The DGS/PD is the central purchasing agency for the State. As such, the overall goal when purchasing fire apparatus and emergency crew transport vehicles is to take advantage of volume purchasing to leverage the State’s buying power and obtain the lowest prices for State and local governmental agencies. Creating a statewide contract will provide a means to accomplish this goal.
B. AGENCY NAME CHANGE
For the purpose of this solicitation until July 2013 all reference to the California Emergency Management Agency will be CalEMA. After June 30, 2013, the California Emergency Management Agency name will change to California
Office of Emergency Services and will be referred to as CA-OES. Reference in this solicitation may be interchangeable. Although any CalEMA fire apparatus and emergency crew transport lettering will be accomplished using the agency’s new name. CalEMA vehicle lettering technical specifications contained within this solicitation supports this change.
C. PROJECTED QUANTITIES
Quantities shown for each category are the State’s estimated numbers for evaluation purposes only. The estimated quantities are based upon anticipated purchasing for a three (3) year contract cycle. Actual purchasing may vary from this pattern. The State will not guarantee that these quantities will be purchased. Consequently, there is no guaranteed dollar value for the resulting contract(s). The State will not be obligated to purchase contractor’s excess inventory if actual purchases vary from the anticipated purchasing pattern. The State reserves the right to order more or less of any category or line item in this solicitation.
