ENROLMENT CHECKLIST Please follow the checklist below, which will help to ensure that you enrol successfully. PROOF OF IDENTIFICATION On the day of enrolment, you will need to bring with you one of the following documents: Birth Certificate Driving Licence Utility bill Exam results Slip Letter/Report from School with their details on Certificate(s) JSA/ESA Letter Benefit Letter/Statement Passport EHIC card P45 or P60 Student Union Card UK Certificate of Naturalisation National Insurance Card (or a letter from the Department for Work and Pensions showing your National Insurance number) Letter of Sponsorship from current or future employer Marriage/Civil Partnership Certificate (UK and Channel Islands) Adoption Certificate (UK and Channel Islands) HM Forces ID Card (UK) ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Please note that a place on your chosen course is not always guaranteed due to the popularity of certain courses, and that all applicants must satisfy specific entry requirements (entry criteria are detailed on the course information leaflet). It is therefore important that you check the entry requirements beforehand, as you will not normally be successful unless you can prove that you meet the entry criteria. If, unfortunately, you do not meet the entry criteria, we will do our best to find you a place on an alternative course. You will be asked to provide evidence (e.g. exam certificates) and you will not be able to complete the enrolment process until you do so. For some courses you may be required to undertake: Course Interview Literacy and/or Numeracy assessment Aptitude test Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB) EXAMINATION RESULTS/ CERTIFICATES (IF APPLICABLE, SEE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS) In addition to entry requirements all 16-18 year old students will now need to prove their Maths and English levels on entry. Proof of grades/ levels will be required at enrolment and assessment may be required FEES/ EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT YOUR CLAIM FOR FEE REMISSION Have you checked whether there are fees to pay for your chosen programme? You may be eligible for reduced fees depending upon your age, residency in England and any benefits that you may be receiving (please refer to the Fees Policy 2015/16 which is available on the College Website). If you are aged 19+ you may also be eligible for full tuition fee remission Please refer to the college website in the Student Services Section and go to ‘Course Fee’s’ and the ‘Fee Remission Eligibility’ page to see if you qualify for free tuition. FUNDING The Funding Team will be available to discuss funding options with you. In order to assess the support that may be available, please bring photocopied evidence of yours or parents’/ guardians’ income and/or benefit statements, which must be dated within 3 months of your application. Evidence will consist of one of the following: Working Tax Credit – full statement 2015/16 all pages P60 (April 2015) Pay slips from the last three months (at least 3 needed) Income Support/ JSA/ ESA/ Universal Credit letter from the Job Centre in the last 3 months Bank Statement showing above benefits received in the last 3 months In addition this year the Government has introduced free school meals for 16-18 year old students who meet eligibility criteria. You will need to show evidence of benefit statements to support this claim. 24+ ADVANCED LEARNING LOAN 24+ Advanced Learning Loans are now available for learners undertaking a publicly funded level 3 or 4 course, who are aged 24 and over. Learners will have the opportunity to access a loan rather than paying fees upfront. You can apply online and there will be facilities for you to apply on the day you enrol if you bring in correct documentation: National Insurance number Current in date UK Passport (if held) Alternative forms of ID can be submitted (UK Birth Certificate, Valid non-UK Passport If you have already completed your application, please bring your confirmation letter to enrolment. You must have your loan approved by Friday 23 October otherwise full upfront payment will be due and risk of withdrawal from the course. DBS CHECK If you are required to undertake a DBS check, you will need to ensure that you bring the required documents with you: these could include passport, driving licence, birth certificate, marriage certificate, financial documents such as bank/mortgage statements etc. For full details of what is required please refer to the DBS Section available on the College Website. Please note that for anyone aged 19 or over payment of £44 for the DBS check will be required on the day (you may be able to reclaim this once you have completed a successful funding claim and started the course). ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ADDITIONAL SUPPORT If you feel that you may need additional support when you come to college, please contact the Inclusive Learning Team on 0121 477 1750 before you come in to enrol. If you have a learning difficulty or disability please specify this on your enrolment form when you come in to college. This information will be used to identify learning support needs and for data monitoring purposes. CHILDREN Unfortunately it is not possible for children to come to the enrolment sessions. Please make arrangements for someone to look after your children as we have no crèche facilities at Bournville College. ENROLMENT TIMESCALE This depends very much on the course you are enrolling for: we will do our best to assist you through the process in the most efficient way. If, however, you have fees to pay or require funding advice, the process may take a little longer – please allow sufficient time of approximately 1 to 2 hours for your enrolment session. PARKING Parking is located opposite the College on the Bristol Road.
