PhD position Transplantation Centre, Department of Medicine University of Lausanne Transplantation Immunology We are looking for a PhD student (PhD in Life Sciences of the University of Lausanne) or MD-PhD student in the field of immunology, starting as soon as possible in 2010, duration 36 months. The main aim of the project is to explore the mechanisms of allograft rejection (role of T-cell subsets and dendritic cells) and immunological tolerance in a solid organ transplantation model. Desired profile: • Bachelor or Master degree in biology, immunology, biochemistry or related fields; medical degree for MD-PhD students • Ability and willingness to work in an interdisciplinary research field. • Good oral and written skills in English. Knowledge of French. The PhD program will enable the student to develop the following skills: Cellular and molecular biology, cell imaging, immunohistology, flow cytometry, in vivo rodent models. To work in a multidisciplinary context. To critically review and summarize knowledge in specific areas. To develop study protocols and plan research. To analyze data and to write ad hoc reports independently. To efficiently communicate and disseminate results. To manage ongoing research projects, including data management, project administration and interaction with participants and colleagues. Salary will follow the Swiss National Science Foundation scale for first/second/third year students.
