One of the greatest traditions in American culture is the high school

One of the greatest traditions in American culture is the high school senior prom.
The prom is a rite of passage, and for many of our students, is a defining moment
that marks the transition from high school to adulthood. As we come to the
semester break and the school year coming ever closer to an end, excitement is
building for the prom. With that comes all of the planning, dresses, tuxedos, limos,
corsages, pictures and maybe that inevitable question, “Can I go to the shore for the
weekend?” The strategies parents employ on prom night to keep their children safe
vary with individual parenting styles. This becomes more pronounced as our
children pull towards independence. It has become evident that many of you would
welcome an alternative to the “after prom” house. I am pleased to announce that
this year Seneca High School’s Student Council will be hosting our first Prom House
110 Carranza!
What is Prom House 110 Carranza?

Prom House 110 Carranza is a drug and alcohol-free post prom party filled
with games, entertainment and prizes. The party is open to all seniors and
their dates, whether or not they attend the senior prom (senior students
must be eligible to attend the prom). The cost is $5.00 per person.
When?

The post prom event will be from 12:00 am to 5:30 am. Breakfast will be
served from 12:00am until 1:30am. This is a lock-in event. Students
attending must stay for the entire event and arrive by 1:00 am. A full list of
particulars will be sent via e-mail in early March.
What are the activities and prizes?

Student Council is working diligently on activities and events. Final plans will
be announced in early March. As this event is our first, we ask for your
patience about the details. We are confident those who attend will have a
great time. Student Council is gathering outstanding prizes; those too will be
announced in March. The goal is a prize for every senior who attends, and an
end of the night culminating super prize!
How can you help?
Student Council asks that you please consider:

Encourage Your Child to Attend
We surveyed a cross section of the senior class and the predominant response
has been a sense of relief that they now have an alternative to the after prom
house. The success of Prom House 110 Carranza is directly dependent on our
students’ attendance.

A monetary contribution –The success of Prom House 110 Carranza is entirely
dependent on the volunteer spirit and the donations from businesses and
parents. Please make your check payable to Seneca High School Post Prom, and
send to the attention of Student Council advisor Mrs. Erica Maira.

A prize contribution- Student Council has a list of prizes they would like to
offer our students. If you are interested in purchasing a prize you can e-mail
Mrs. Maira at emaira@lrhsd.org. She will forward your e-mail to Student Council
who will email you their list and confirm your prize donation.

Corporate Sponsorship
If you are a business owner, work for a company, or know someone who would
consider sponsoring our event please contact Grace McCloskey at
gmccloskey@lrhsd.org.
If you have read this far, you understand how important a drug and alcohol free post
prom party is to Seneca High School. I am so proud of our students and community
for coming forward to create an event like this. The only thing left to do is to make it
happen!
Sincerely,
Jeff Spector
